Kolkata, Nov 7 (PTI) B K Modi-owned Spice Group will soon announce incubation centres in the country to attract talent for developing mobile phone applications.
" We will launch incubation centres in different cities in which we will offer upto Rs 50 lakh as seed capital to upto one lakh entrepreneurs for developing applications," Spice Mobility Managing Director Dilip Modi said here today.
He said the launch of the incubation scheme by the group will be held later this month. Noida and Bangalore would be the initial centres and Kolkata would be a choice at a later period, he said.
" Our aim is to benchmark ourselves with Apple App store," Modi said without divulging the name of the company which will introduce the incubation scheme.
The group has Spice Labs, a company focused on mobile applications for consumers and enterprises.
Modi said they want to develop applications targeted at feature phones which are not available at present.
" Applications are available for smart phones but we want to focus on applications targeted at phones less than Rs 6,000 to increase internet usage on these phones," Modi said. PTI BSM CR MM NS
