below is a story from a small country call "Little Red Dot" A construction company boss Mr SadSad, meet the Head of department of the BCA Mr Mom BT. Mr SadSad asked Mr Mom BT to help him because he has secured 5 projects with the requirement of 100,000 cubicmeter of ready-mixed concrete. Now the price has double from $65 per cubicmeter to $130 per cubicmeter, so SadSad must fork out an extra (100,000 x $65) S$6.5 millions. Mr Mom told SadSad, don't worry, be happy, OK. I will help you OK. Everyday, Mr Mom told SadSad the same answer. So SadSad become more Sad everyday. |

singapore got $, can buy sand from elsewhere. piling works have other methods other than just bore pile that files in the casing with concrete. IR is our govt's baby, you think we will stop construction just because of this? anyway, my call is from my own opinion. follow at your own risk.:) |

sorry, should be Sambo Tosfoc. before the award of IR, many of us have the same idea that at least one IR will go to a Singapore company. now we know the result, Singapore got nothing. |

samwoh is local. sambo tosfoc is korean. IR has to give to some local firms as a "form of giving face" to our garment. just wait and see.... |

heard the IR piling work contracts in Marina Sands have been awarded to Bachy (a Franch company) and SamWoh (a South Korean company). the official result could be out soon. if this is confirm news, then it will confirm the long held reumours that most IR contracts will be awarded to foreign contractors. Local construction companies are basically out of the race. |

to alanwong12345, it help to solve a big problem for Singapore, the release of sand stockpile, resume the delivery of concrete ready-mixed. the rest of singapore are happy, except for construction companies. construction are paying sky high price for concrete now. const margin is still very small, the incresement will affect them seriously. |

Opportunist ...... Didn't transport companies raise their price in times of rising oil prices but never reduce in times of falling prices? Didn't coffeeshops increase the price of coffee when there is trouble? Didn't the price of our daily necessities increased recently due to the anticipated GST increase? |

ready-mixed concrete increase price from $64-$72 per cubic-meter to $120, next week may go up to $150. for every project, contractors have to fork out additional few millions dollars. |

TA shows bearish downhill for CSC. Moreover, higher sand costs scare away would-be investors or incurr new costs for change to new method (whether its steel or sand - who cares?) cannot make the stock rise. Better run before it does a sudden drop or slides unconsciously on weekly basis flanked by huge volume! The shortage of supply is sudden and will deeply impact either the developer or contractor profits in short term unless those who already booked the new homes need to pay more. The consumer will have to absorb such costs + GST in long term view. |

Contractors are very unlucky. God is not fair !! since 1997 we are suffering, nearly no profits for the past ten years. Now prospect started to look bright, hoping this year can make big profits, suddenly stupid Indon and China spoil our dream. God help us ! this year all contractors have big dream, but now is shattered by stupid Indon and China. end of 2006 we were happily estimating how to make a big killing in 2007, but now, .... is all gone ... F them. I still can't believe it, I will never forgive Indon and China people. |
