Did some research on GLP recently. Although their properties and rent fee is higher in px for Japan, Japan is a cash cow with no foreseeable investment in the near future by GLP. But irs lease period with the customers is on average 6.2 years with 99% occupancy rate! tsunami or radiation, companies will still need to lease for business, unless Japan became 3rd word economiy again. On the other hand, the rental space completed for lease is the SAME for japan's rental space, but GLP has about 30% more to be completed and abundant land space on hand. People are jumping at 80% rental fee comes from Japan so  GLP is  going to affected. Not to forget, GLP is insured although we dont know the payout, if any. The real money is in China, moving forward. Yes, rental and logistical properties is lower than Japan, but it is fast rising. GLP bought about 20% share into SCP??, which is the parent company of Blogis. Blogis is a domestic company with privilege and its logistic hub is at highly demanded location. Buying in SCP?? is equilvent to buying into Blogis, the second largest competitor in China. Merger in the near future? Who knows? And GLP airport space purchase is the unprecedent case for an foreign company, GLP, proofing a strong tie with China govt. For your info. |

A very good article on logistics trend in China. It resembles the story of GLP so far, quick access to capital  thru IPO and  strong ties with China thru their vested interest in GLP to build logistics space at prime locations.  (not explaining the stock px of course) Lets hope for an uptrend soon. http://www.supplychains.com/en/art/3965/ |

Chia Lat. Down more than 20% since first day of listing. Even buying now and getting 8% discount from IPO price I have to think carefully.

Looks like strong support at 1.78 for this one..... tested 2-3 times alr. I will buy some at current book value to average down to below ipo price. Besides, I read that its chairman Jeff Schwartz, is still optimistic when asked about the business while travel to the US last week after spending the previous week in Tokyo. 26 March 2011 - Barron's OnlineLast week, GLP's unused space was snapped up by clients who'd lost their own facilities. GLP's space at Narita Airport was leased for relief goods being flown into Japan. One big competitor leased GLP's space near Tokyo Disneyland. " We could have leased it three times over without even marketing the space," says Schwartz. GLP has more than 33 million square feet in 69 so-called logistics facilities in Japan, valued at US$6.3 billion. The damage totaled US$38.8 million, or 0.6% of the portfolio. Japan's logistics system is undergoing acute change, relates Schwartz. The keiretsu system that gave companies interlocking relationships and shareholdings made distribution much less efficient Schwartz figures that 15% of Japan's GDP was in the supply chain—people, transportation costs, inventory costs, logistics costs and the like. How does that stack up? " It's around 17% to 18% for China, 11%-ish for Europe, and about 10% for the U.S." The earthquake provides opportunities to build new, modern facilities that in theory ought to cut costs for consumers and companies. Late last week, GLP's Singapore-traded shares had rebounded to S$1.81, but were below the S$1.96 they fetched when the GIC, one of Singapore's sovereign-wealth funds, took it public last fall at around 1.1 times book, and China's sovereign-wealth fund and national pension fund signed on as shareholders. GLP is the most modern logistics company in China, likely to benefit as the domestic economy develops even more. The share-price drop causes Schwartz to shake his head: With the exception of one facility, GLP is 100% operational in Japan. " We're trading at almost book value, without factoring that we're the market leader in China, have an incredible land bank, and it's very difficult to source land for logistics, and we have the balance sheet to support that growth," he says.   |

Probably just new  IPO syndrom. Now a days, new IPO's likey to fall for about a month  or so before seeing daylight. Think can drop some more.
