Actually, more people not taking taxi or not doesn't really affect much on SMRT's profit margin. In fact, it should boost its overall earnings. Though, I still believe most of its revenue growth should come from rental/advertisement section due to high maintenance/operating cost for its fleet of buses and trains. Oh.....it's year end now and LTA's decision on its merger or not deal with ComfortDelgro should be out anytime soon. No wonder its share price was rock solid at yesterday's closing although STI dip > 3%. |

actually many pp take cabs because they can claim from company, so no damage to their pockets except gotta wait till pay day or something. I guess the 20% drop in calls mostly are those who have to fork out their own and feel the pinch. But then again, co will be more stringent when they approved the taxi claims next time. To see if thats true, just check with forummers if their co come up with some new 'rules' on cab taking. |

Your rule will only hold true for the 1st few months....after that, everything will be back to normal. Complaints will start to surface again, and taxi fare will be adjusted again. |

In this case, 1/3 rule would apply. 1/3 of the population would continue to take cab no matter what. 1/3 would switch to public transport using bus or MRT. The remaining 3rd would take cab when it is absolutely necessary. Based on this assumption, the taxi company would not profit from the fee hike. |

The taxi fare increase this time round is really substantial. I believe more people will take public transport or buy their own cars from now on. |

SMRT will definitely increase the taxi fare just like Comfort. And then, they will increase the taxi rental just like Comfort to boost their income. |

I still have lotsa SMRT at 1.07SGD. : ) Hypothetically if I buy now at 1.61 and if it goes up to 1.68 (see guessing/betting is BAD), I profit more then if I held on to that 1.68 lot and not cut the losses. The moral is if you are wrong (as in my view of the technical entry for my 1.68 lot) get out, else get clobbered. |

Why take loss so fast? I'm sure your trade will become profitable over time if you continue to hold on unless you need $ badly or you're trading on this counter just like me doing in SingTel....HaHaHa! |

I am out of my recent trade at 1.66SGD. Thank goodness I had the opportunity to minimise the losses today. *wink* |
