Shplayer was a respected member of this Sharejunction forum.     Throughout the years, many have benefitted from his many             insightful posts about the companies he had studied.                   Although he is basically a fundamentals-oriented investor,                           he has also shown himself to be open-minded and humble                                 by the interest he has also shown in the technical analysis                                         side of stocks. All in all, he has been a valuable part of                                                 this forum. Many will miss him very much. RIP.                                                 |

Hulumus, Tanglinboy He was a very dear friend and mentor to  some of  us  who knew him other than being an astute stock picker. My memories of him  are more of the former than that of an astute stock picker. A former scholar/former civil servant in one of our elite branches of service, strong corporate background in the private sector and finally an entrepreneur of a successful business before becoming a full-time investor and walker. He was still surfing and writing though not on SJ. The last GE provided him much entertainment and he certainly enjoyed the win of the workers party since he stayed in that ward. I think WP certaintly fulfilled one of his bucket list to see the PAP get wacked. He even messaged me a couple of days on some viral messages on puns on the Grow and Share dividends. Writing about him helps in some small measure of coping with his trip up to the heavens so pardon me for dwelling about him without revealing his identity to give his family privacy to grieve in the meantime. At the appropriate time, I would call him by his first name to share with forumers what he was like as a person, his philosophy,  his thought process and finally his views on stock picking.  I was fortunate to have spent much time with him and he taking me under his wings considering he was just a few years younger than my father. I would consider him one of my guiding hands in the last couple of years. It's been a really long time since I've posted articles on SJ so now may just be an appropriate time. |

An unselfish rich who distributes wealth== A master who is willing to share his knowledge/teach== A respectable person. To have such a mentor was your fortune. It's a loss  to Sharejunction, I will miss him too     |

I remembered seeing his posts around 2 - 3 years ago... just now when i went back to look at some of his posts, i realized he was still posting even in january, very passionate even when he was ill. May he rest in peace...On a related note,  makes me start to re-focus my life after staying 1yr 3mths  here in the US, realizing most important are people back home and some friends in the SEA region....especially when i couldnt see my ex tuition teacher for the last time and visit my grandma more often when she had a fall...thank God, i'll be going home in 95 days time.... | ||||||

Dear forumers, It is with much sadness that i write that we will miss postings from Shplayer. He passed away peacefully after a brave and long fight with his illness yesterday morning. For those who had the good fortune of knowing him in person. He was a pillar of strength. A sharp mind and one with many varied experiences in his eventful life. I will miss him very much after being friends with Shplayer in the last  5 years. He had been a pillar of support and counsel in my life. Providing me much needed support in my own life after losing my own direction in life with my father's passing. I will miss the long walks in Bukit Timah reserve that we took,  the makan  and drinking sessions we had regularly. His detail analysis of stocks is what many forumers here I'm sure will miss. He would point out stocks that rode on the fundamentals of financials. We both shared a love for stocks in this area. Always a learner in real life. He took on technical anlysis into his portfolio. I have one less person now to discuss various stocks. Please put together our hands to a tribute to Shplayer and may he rest in peace. Victorian |
