Oh....this is actually a rather "outdated" scheme. Some time ago, it is actually illegal to buy back company share using its own funds. The latest technology and trend now is Dual Listing.....more Powderful, More righteous (Why ?  Because books audited again lor)

So during turbulent times, poorer CEO, or major shareholders will start to CFCM because they cannot do anything to stop the sharp drop in share price.  That is where the share buy scheme comes in.

a) Help to stabilize share price

b) Increase shareholders value - Only if the buyback price is below the NAV or NTA

c) Increase DIV yield rate - Anytime, less float more DIV

and so forth......so it is a good thing lor.

However, why in such a hurry to implement now ?

These days I cannot think of good things about CSI because the previous two rights issue cannot be justified.  Have 800M RMB still issue rights ??  Not even MFT can explain.

Case A: Poor results coming......need to stablize price.

Case B: A major shareholder or BB want out......need to stablize price.

On the good side

Current price is way below the NTA of 22 Scts......but why in the hurry.....Results due also in November......I guess.

Sold mine at 14cts recently......
