I took it in june 2007. It was S$2988 then.. not sure about now. others like chartnexus and asiacharts also around the same price or slightly more. When I signed up..I dont know whether it will works for me..but I told myself the most it is money lost but it might be something useful for me and i am glad it works for me. I subscribed to system on data for US, SGX and HK markets all together is S$796 for 12 months. |

no sifu la..everyone are sifu here. wongmx6..i dont know if you advocate buy and hold...i have some long term one also tanked like yours. But if you adopt a longer term... you should be making good returns with good counters. What i am able to make now , i am following mainly on T3b teaching (believe many have heard about it) and i go for short term as I am preparing for myself to be good enough to generate a comfortable monthly income because I am quitting my day job to be full time in trading and to do some other business.. hehe..still working in china for quite a long time liao. I started with SG market till i am comfortable tha i am good enough before i moved into overseas markets. No problem ..we can also share share our stock picks and opinions. |

US and HK markets have a much bigger potential to make us more profit and become millionaire. Lucky888 ...i dont see myself working any much longer for people too especially when bosses said : you have enough to live on blur blur etc etc. Last year I make over 300% and keep on learning to be better. I am a short term trader and i long and short the markets. I dont believe in whatever method is best or worst but rather whta your suit you and your game plan. Let us all ride the next big waves and be well rewarded. |

Well, it is easy to say that I want to be a millionaire and become one. A big heart and big opportunity like the last one or two month ago, can usher it faster for you.and no need to wait for 2012. Still got time, don't worry. From now until the end of this year, just hoot and hoot, buy the underpriced, the heavy and the penny stocks and the good China ones, and don't forget the US flying stocks. Buy to keep and keep and anyone can become one before the end of the year. Cheers. |

It is rather easy to become a millionaire (or higher) by playing stocks... One just needs to bet big enough... and when you are right, that's it!... Any sifu knows this hehehe... |

yeah. i think holding long term without looking at the portfolio is the best method irregardless of bull or bear market. i initially invested into SG stocks in end of Dec as most of my friends say DEC is the best time to buy as most funds are closed for the holiday. I vested around 50K into SG stocks but tanked afterwhich but heck i just chunk aside and hey now they are recovering. I also started to vest half of my remaining cash into US stock in end FEB/early Mar too and hey now when i check, my portfolio is double of what i vested and the gain is almost what i earn for a year. seems like US stocks are better to invest than SG stock. I am going to invest my remaining $$ into US and SG and long for long term as i think the market has bottomed. economic data has shown improvements and the regulators seems to have found the right solution to solve the problem. thanks to all the sifus and gurus here sharing ur experiences and views. hope all of u are also gaining from these market. Do share your success stories here for newbies like us to learn and be inspired. thanks. Cheers to everyone here. we are all successful investors here. yeah

Naturally. In a downturn, we want our international businesses not to lose too much in paying more Sing Dollars for our imports which are mostly US$ denominated goods and services. Stronger US$ vs Sing$ reduces our purchasing power in US$ denominated goods, services and makes us pay more for our US$ debts. You visit the US, you pay more for your hotel bills, cab fares and your meals, etc. Doubtless, in rising US$ there are also beneficiaries such as listed companies (but how many belong to locals?) having big US$ contracts, e.g shipbuilders who signed billions of US$ contracts. JES, Yangzijiang, Cosco to name a few who have US$ contract stand to gain, but I am more concerned about our smaller businesses who might suffer if US$ strengthens too much against our Sing Dollar.

In a economic downturn like that. you would not want our Sing dollar to be stronger than the US dollar

Cheongwee san, you are really good. Not only good with investments, but good in raising a family with capable children. I believe you are right to say that this is the time to go into stocks and gold. The US$ should not be allowed to go past the 1.53 mark because our economic is not as worse as US so why should our currency be much weaker than it was before the global downturn? Supposing it does rally against our SGD, then MAS should do a look at their "open policy" they recently embarked on, probably another mistake of mistakes? Is there an econmist here who care to give his views on the SGD/USD direction?. |

Talking about gold,i vested alot here, and heck the $ did not even cross 2004 and 2006 high...so i dont think the rally can last,.it is basically rallying because of deleveraging..very soon it will sink..then gold will soar..i see dow and gold soar side by side.. With debt up to the nose..and with those trillion dollar bailout..do u think the dollar can rally long?? |

I am of the opinion that there is a long recession but no depression cause they can alway print $..1929..they got to have gold..but now the $ rally because of deleveraging, i dont see it last..very soon, the $ have not fundamental on it own to rally with CB printing $ like no tomolo..i would say a year from now we will have inflation back, with those money CB is pumping into the system, and imagine the consequences if those money hold back by credit crunch start to roll again... There will be hell lot of dollar in the system that will cause high inflation..and those $ will go back to chase stock...then we will have dow 36000, gold 5000 and oil 300 a few years from now...that is what i have read and what i believe too...

Uncle Cheong Wee, Had read yr article before. the author compared with previous bear. He discounted the great depression and anticipated a mini-rally. Also read somewhere that says gold is not moving up. Why? Because people are expecting a stock rally. So did not move to gold. Makes sense as well. US dollar is strengthening which caught many by surprise as well. Good sign as well. Bottomline is still the economy which might take a while. But market is forward looking, so might be a reprive any time.
