'No change on Pedra Branca' - S'pore Foreign Ministry.

This comes after Dr Balaji Sadasivan, :Senior Minister of State for Foreign
Affairs, said this week that S''pore would pursue its territorial claims
over the waterssurrounding the island, :which was previously the subject of
a legal dispute with Malaysia. Spore would announce "at an appropriate time" the
precise coordinates of the territorial sea and exclusive economic zone (EEZ) that
it is claiming around Pedra Branca.

"Singapore first stated its claim to a territorial sea limit that extends up
to a maximum of 12 nautical miles and an Exclusive Economic Zone in a MFA
Press Statement on 15 September 1980.
.
"This was reiterated in another MFA Press Statement on 23 May 2008 following
the International Court of Justice (ICJ) judgment on sovereignty over Pedra
Branca and Middle Rocks.
.
"As stated in both press statements, should the limits of our territorial
sea or Exclusive Economic Zone overlap with the claims of neighbouring
countries, Singapore will negotiate with those countries with a view to
arriving at agreed delimitations in accordance with international law." Meanwhile

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, an MP from Johor, said it showed
that the republic did not respect the International Court of Justice (ICJ)
ruling in May.

"I'm opposed to it, and I appeal to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais
Yatim to avoid bowing to the demands of Singapore's leaders who do not
respect the sensitivities of neighbouring countries," she was quoted as
saying by Utusan Malaysia.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, who is also an MP from
Johor, said Singapore's actions were not in keeping with the Asean spirit of
neighbourliness.

He regretted that Singapore did not consult Malaysia before making known its
stance. He repeated Malaysia's stand that Pedra Branca was a rock, not an island,
and thus not entitled to an EEZ.

Cross my mind. what Malaysia foreign ministry said (Mr Rais Yatim). It mentioned with (new) evidence. there could be other strong, compelling reasons under inter-national law to rebut it, which mean although, it might cease to be of operation if they are shown not to have been operating in the Ialand for 100 years. It could be that way too.

Now can we say we operating on Pulau Pisiang for more then 100 years, can we oso start claiming Palau Pisaing stn (the station) instead of the island...???.

Petrol price in M'sia up 40.6%


Petrol price up by S$0.32 (RM 0.78) - and will be reviewed monthly

PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA: The Government announced yesterday an increase in petrol and diesel prices, stating that it can no longer continue to subsidise fuel.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the new prices were still at a 30-sen per litre discount from market prices.

In other words, if the market price is RM3 per litre, Malaysians will be charged RM2.70 at the pump. He said the price would be adjusted monthly based on the global oil price.

"Malaysians still pay lower than the market prices as far as petrol is concerned," he told a packed press conference when announcing the restructuring of the subsidy package.

Abdullah said that although the restructuring would result in consumers having to pay more, prices were still lower compared with Singapore and Thailand.

He said the Government would save RM13.7bil through the restructuring.


From the savings, he said RM4bil would go to the National Food Supply Guarantee Policy, RM1.5bil for subsidising cooking oil and RM400mil to subsidise rice imports to make the price uniform in peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

The Government would also spend RM200mil on flour subsidy, RM100mil on bread subsidy and RM7.5bil was meant for contributions to the subsidies for petrol, diesel and gas.

On top of that, Abdullah said, the Government would have to fork out RM5bil to pay to owners of cars and motorcycles eligible for rebates introduced under the restructuring of subsidy package.

"Our effort is certainly not an attempt to be popular but we try our best to help the people. We cannot satisfy everyone," he said.

Abdullah said demand for public transport would go up with the rise in fuel prices and the Government was currently addressing the need to improve services.

He reiterated that the public should make changes to their lifestyle, saying they must ensure there was no wastage in resources such as water, energy and food.

He said if certain adjustments were made, the public would not be "too badly affected by price increases".

He said the hike in fuel prices would cause a projected increase in inflation of around 4% to 5%. It would also have an impact on the country's gross domestic product (GDP) growth but was confident that it could be maintained at 5% this year.

Abdullah said the Cabinet committee on anti-inflation had to come up with a system to ease the public's burden from higher fuel prices.

"What is important is that we want to ensure the restructuring will encompass a mechanism that will protect and benefit those in the lower and middle income group.

"We are truly committed in ensuring these groups will not be burdened by the increase in petrol and food prices," he said.

Asked if the subsidy restructuring would result in Malaysians going to the streets to demonstrate their unhappiness, Abdullah was confident the people would not resort to that.

Don't work for a single day oso cannot, shorted rest day as it will be has a rippling effect into their every life for all Johoreans, things will be over nite becoming alot more expensive then or as the same effect like us....

Err....on 2nd thought, not so pratical to ban out right.

KL to put off 50km petrol ban plan, Malaysia is to review pratical issues related to curbs on foreign motorists, mentioned on fornt page head line, in Straits Times Monday June 2, 2008.

Now, owing to PB good settling within both countries, Spore may help to curb the problem over the causeway by implementing full tank instead of 3qtr tank policy. Sure works one. Indirectly means that even spore car travel to and flo 50Km radii will not consume 1qtr of petrol tank leow loh.

If they do turn their back on the ruling then they are asking for more trouble because in 2002 ICJ ruling, Indonesia lost the Sipadan island to them.  For the same reason, Indonesia did not develop or exercise its right to the island.

If they cannot honour the deal, why should Indonesia.

The letter of 1953 is analogy to I saw a 50cts coin on the floor, I ask the nearest stranger, "Is this your coin ?" .  The stranger said "It is not mine".  What would you do ? Take it or just let it pass ??

The fact we have shown, the letter of 1953.  Malaysia DO NOT have JURSIDICTION OVER THE ISLAND.  THIS IS A FACTS AND NOT AN HEARSAY.
