Anwell has formed a jv with a Chinese partner for thin-film solar module business. The Chinese partner will invest US$7 million for a 10% stake in the JV with 40MW initial production capacity per annum and will provide strategic local support for the solar module plant. The JV will focus on manufacturing and development of silicon thin-film solar modules. The new plant will be located in Henan, China. The initial 40MW production facility will be installed in the fourth quarter of FY2008 and will be China’s first fully automatic thin-film solar module production line. Following the pilot run in 1Q2009, the JV is expected to generate revenue by 2Q2009. The management also plans to increase its production capacity to 120MW by 2010.
Anwell aims to be amongst world’s top 10 solar module producers by 2013. |

Anwell Technologies, the world's only vertically integrated optical disc equipment maker with a disc-manufacturing arm. During the Media-Tech Expo 2008 held in Germany in May '08, which is the key conference for the optical disc industry, the Company signed contracts with 4 customers for sale of Blu-ray disc and DVDR production lines with a sum of the total contract value of US$6.5 million. The optical disc manufacturers have expressed their confidence in Blu-ray disc's prospect, where it is now expected to be the dominant in the next generation format, by gearing up their Blu-ray disc production capabilities. Deliveries for the lines are expected to start in 3Q08. According to the industry research company, the standard DVD format is expected to remain as the dominant in the industry in the next few years. Although Blu-ray format is still in the infancy stage, the Blu-ray format media market is estimated to grow from 0.3 billion disc in '08 to 1.3 billion disc in '11. A recent market report from Understanding & Solutions also pegs household penetration of High Definition players at 36% in the US and at 11% in Western Europe by '11. Such penetration of High Definition players is expected to fuel growth of Blu-ray disc in the next few years. |

more to come, there are about 3,000 DVD replicating suppliers in the market as reported. Blu-ray Dvd movie now cost $34 to $50 compare to normal one $19 to $25. More suppliers will attract to switch BD Dvd. |

So, this is the long term investment, say have to hold for another 2 to 5 years. 1) It need time to settle the outstanding convertable notes; 2) There are still people out there holding the share when they bought at high point (the highest is $0.14) and cannot wait any longer, cos now is the time to reduce losses or just breakeven, and the price btw $0.08 to $0.085 cnts might need to stay sideway for months. 3) In btw there are people buy/sell daily. This will very much depend on the confident to Anwell's investment and the market. Anwell still need time to show profit before more people buying this counter; 4) Todate, Anwell only pay the 1st and one time dividend only in 12 May 2005 of HK$0.076 per share. So the following results of profit are important, this are the real solid result to prove whether Anwell can fly! 5) Investment need money, setting up, production and R&D need times, so the break even period might take 2 to 5 years. go for mid term buy, after Toshiba declared defeat to blu-ray, Anwell is going to be the sole benefitor. It is currently No.2 integrated blu-ray technology manufacturing company beside Sony. On 19 Feb 08, it hit on the highest point of 85cnts, then its dips down rapidly and closed at 55cnts on 10 Mar 08; Since than it move between 55cnts and 60cnts till now. In between on the date of 17, 19 20, 24 Mar, 24 Apr 08 it even touches 50 cnts. This sideway track has come to almost 60 days (2 months). But, it seems that there its support at 55cnts. The question is with such a good profit, will it be moving UP in the near future? or just have to wait? Till WHEN ??!!! |
