Both Sp Aust(56cents ) and paying about same amount of divdend, would it be better to switch to Babcock(S53.2 c3nts per 1000 shares),given that Babcock is at a much lower price($1.24 vs $1.920,the dividend yield of Babcock is about 9% with another 7% expected for half year ending 31Dec2007...price of Babcock is creeping up after OC   BC Carmen Lee initiated coverage on 13 May

Australian infrastructure firm SP Ausnet <SPN.AX> said on Thursday its 2007 full-year profit had exceeded the prospectus forecast by 3.2 percent, thanks to strong sales.
SP Ausnet, which owns and operates electricity and gas transmission networks in "We expect to see continued growth in our regulated asset base of around 7 percent, driven by ongoing strong customer demand," SP Ausnet Managing Director Nino Ficca said in a statement. Profit from continuing operations was A$161.2 million, the company said, 3.2 percent above its prospectus forecast, but 8.25 percent down on a year earlier. The company said the 2006 results did not reflect comparative numbers as they included only seven months of contribution from the transmission business, as well as contributions from the merchant energy business which was divested in May 2006. SP Ausnet is 51 percent owned by state-owned utility Singapore Power following a A$1.4 billion dual listing of its shares in The Melbourne-based utility said it November that it was seeking acquisitions in Australia and New Zealand and expects growth in its existing business, with power demand in Victoria state forecast to grow by 2.5 percent a year to 2010. Singapore Power, which had teamed up with investment firm Babcock & Brown Ltd. <BNB.AX>, in a $6.7 billion takeover offer for energy infrastructure firm Alinta <AAN.AX>, has said it will offer the Alinta assets it gets to SP Ausnet. SP Ausnet said it has begun an independent process to assess the investment opportunity. Alinta's board recommended the Babcock-led takeover offer earlier this month. This counter could be correcting to a more realistic price now after the recent upsurge. Acc/Dist and Chaikin are falling.

Dear friends of Share junction, I have also taken notice of Babcock & Brown. I ask my investment manager and he sent 3 charts and graphs to me.I don't know how to read. But he did say, 2 investment analyst firms recommend a BUY option, with a target price of SGD$1.20 and SGD$1.27 respectively. PE is a bit high though; can't remember, but I know it's more than 15. agathoswins |
