Ya the E-waves is very difficult to master. Reading and understanding them are most difficult. Like all charts, speculations for the next waves to develope are 'mind-bogging' affairs. Sometimes you may have all the charts right and yet your bet could go wrong! You've to be strong and believe in what you're doing and over times, the rewards are worthy of the hardworks! Cheers! |

http://vistaweb.nlb.gov.sg/cgi-bin/cw_cgi?fullRecord+28621+3002+12697399+13+0 From National Library and there are alot more books out there but I find above book most simple and easy to understand. Happy reading. In fact I read it in 1 day. Elliot waves are not covered as I believe it is more advanced so for this you need search other more 'cheem' TA book. |

sohguanh, Thanks for taking the time to write to me. I wish I can write as well as u do. All I do is read SJ/forumers' comments and advice.I 'm not able to contribute much as I am ratther new in the market. Spent too much time taking care of my children, now all grown up ( with children of their own). I am more an investor, more of the long-time type.I do have St Engg, (10,000), Jardin eCC (3000) Amte(43000) St Tyres (47000), AP oil (30000). I only buy if there is enough cash. I do keep some "bullets" for emergency. I shall be keeping in touch with SJ/Forumers - a wonderful group of ppl. |

Hi sohguan, Thanks for listing down all the buying signals. But one note of caution... if you have too many indicators, you'll end up getting confused. Best to stick to around 3-4 indicators that work well together. |

choohian, please take note TA does not take into the fact that short sellers or contra players will strike the next trading day. Basically TA is based on price and volume done between sellers and buyers. It may not be a true reflection of the ACTUAL trading process cuz due to the SGX trading model, short sellers and contra players can create havoc on the pricing. Not to mention BB tactics of suppress pricing to flush out weak retail players etc etc etc. So take TA with a pinch of salt. You still need to monitor the trade summary for any suspicion of those maipulation at play. IndoFood was trading at a high of 1.6+ and today it is at 1.4+. That is a loss of $200 for each lot!!!! Conclusion: TA + awareness of short sellers, contra players, BB tactics are needed to play shares. Ok there is still FA but that is another story altogether again. GA I don't need to explain more :) |

My first touch to TA was the posting by singaporegal. Then I go library borrow book and read ShareJunction chart interpretation and I come out below steps which is a merger of singaporegal and mwzl95 styles.I list them down in steps. Buy Signal Step 1: Accumulation/Distribution as leading indicator for price uptrend STep 2: Chaikin as leading indicator for Accumulation/Distribution uptrend Step 3: Bollinger Bands and the price are outside or inside the upper band Step 4: RSI and Williams %R to check if it is oversold/overbought Step 5: MACD rises above the signal line Step 6: Moving Average Cross Over where short cross on top over the long (7,14) Step 7: Single Moving Average where price cross on top Step 8: Buy Volume Increase and above Average Volume of past days Step 9: If possible based on the number of days to monitor, plot the trendlines to see if it is uptrend, downtrend, ascending/descending triangle, inverted or no-inverted head and shoulders, double top/bottom, rounding top/bottom, flatline, parabolic etc etc. But there can be many degree of slopes where the trendlines are plotted so this last step is a tough one always for me Lastly, the Elliot waves are the toughest and I don't see how a simple- minded guy like me know how to apply it to short to mid-term stock trading charts. Maybe TA guru wanna give a simple tutorial on that? |

Hi ChinKiasu Dont mention. I hope to promote more group learning so that all parties can make money together. We are small fish and will lose out when the big fish swing its fin. I also use Money flow index and On Balance volume apart from those mentioned. Just hope this thread continue to grow with our experience and more sharing |

hi hotstock, i really blurr like sotong on all these charts/ TA stuff.. but now reading various posts on SJ, I beginning to see there is worth to study more.. thanks for starting this thread... for me the only chart I look at is moving averages, and when I see a big dip I do FA /check the market talk, monitor the stock for some while and then take the plunge to do contrian play. |

Its interesting because when I first started TA, I found that its more difficult to apply sell signals than buy signals. Just find that I couldn't bring myself to sell a stock even though the signals were telling me it to. Emotions come into play. |

The main reason I can figure out is the market sentiment is still very bullish.. thus sellings are easily absorbed... also because of that, you will see many overbought RSI will turn neutral and reversed upwards when the contra players are being sequezed out.. Just my perview view, yours may differ.. |

I use RSI, moving averages and MACD. I fing that buy signals are more accurate than sell signals. I wonder why. |

Good Thread! I use Accumulation/Distribution, Chaikin, Bollinger Bands, RSI and Williams %R. I find that this combination works well together. The limitations of this combo are that TA analysis on penny stocks (<$1) or stocks with low volumes (<1 million shares per day) are not very accurate. |

Like Lum Chang and and several others for instance... It was almost a surefire surge after breakout, but then came the triple whammy of one-shot GST increase, CPF increase/restoration and the sudden Indoneseian sand ban... The action is similar to a sudden onset of thunder strikes... :( |

Hi hot :) I only use short term and long term stochastic (5,3,3) and (25,15,3),and candlesticks for my short term trading entry and exit. There is no particularly sensitive or certain indicators groups of indicators I believe, if so everyone is a millionaire :) Cut loss, cut loss, cut loss ........ is the most important discipline every trader must follow. DO NOT expect any indicators with perfect entry/exit signals. Sometimes u win, sometimes u lose :) that the beauty of TA and trading. |

Hi All, There are many technical indicators for the TA experts to use. Anyone want to share which are the common ones that you use to time your buy/sell and if certain stocks are particularly sensitive to certain indicators or groups of indicators? Hope this can provide some education for all |
