It could list on the Bangkok bourse sometime in the first half of 2007. "It may happen by the end of the first quarter, but it may be the second quarter as well," chief executive Sigve Brekke told Reuters. TAC, controlled by Norway's Telenor , has said it planned to issue up to 44.4 million new shares in the IPO and have dual listings in Bangkok and Singapore. The company delayed the Thai IPO due this year pending the delisting of United Communication Industry PCL (UCOM), which owns 43% of TAC. The company would hold a board meeting in January to discuss the Thai IPO and UCOM's delisting plan, then call a shareholder meeting, Brekke said without giving details. "We are going to call a shareholders meeting to discuss the IPO and also plan to delist UCOM. I cannot tell you what the structure will be, but we hope minority shareholders are happy with what we do," Brekke said. TAC operates Thailand's second largest mobile phone network with more than 11 million subscribers. Brekke said TAC's market share rose to around 31% this year and it hoped to raise the number next year. In 2007, TAC expected to invest less than the THB15.5 billion spent this year on expanding its network and the main focus would be to expand coverage in provinces and rural areas where penetration rate was low, Brekke said. The implementation of an interconnection fee regime early next year would change the way the company launched promotions and its tariff structure, he said. The interconnection fee, charges a caller's network pays to a receiver's network, could be a floor price and help curb price wars, analysts say. |

It said on Thursday it planned to list on the Bangkok bourse in Q1 '07 after several delays. "It should be done by the end of the first quarter," CEO Sigve Brekke told reporters. He gave no details or say how much money the firm expected to raise in the IPO. The company delayed the Thai IPO due this year pending the delisting of United Communication Industry PCL , which owns 43% of TAC. TAC operates Thailand's second largest mobile phone network with more than 11 million subscribers, a 30% market share. |

It said it planned to sell up to 44.4m shares, a 25% stake, in a Thai IPO by the end of this year. Thailand's second-largest mobile phone firm said in a statement it had submitted the IPO filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Stock Exchange of Thailand for approval. TAC, a 43%-owned unit of Thai telecom firm United Communication, said it would issue 16.4m new shares and the rest would come from UCOM, which would sell up to 28m TAC shares. UCOM told the exchange it expected to gain about 4b baht from the share sale and would delist after the IPO. TAC, majority-owned by Norway's Telenor ASA, will become the first Thai firm to have dual listings on the Thai and Singapore markets. The company said last year it would raise about $50m in an IPO to repay loans, fund future expansion and investments while keeping foreign shareholding at 49%, the limit for a company to be legally Thai. In June, TAC had a paid-up capital of 4.58b baht and 10.62m subscribers, representing a 31% market share. It competes with market leader Advanced Info Service and smaller rival True Corp. |

ABN-AMRO says it has cut its rating for TAC to "hold" from "buy" because its valuation is less attractive than that of its peers and because its upside potential is limited. "We believe TAC faces significant challenges in maintaining subscriber growth momentum," ABN-AMRO said in a note. The brokerage said that unlike its peers, AIS and True Corp, TAC offered no unique selling proposition, with its market share of only 31% and the absence of cross-selling opportunities. There could also be downside to ABN-AMRO's target price of US$4.40 should TAC fail to list in Thailand this year, because its tax rate for next year may increase, ABN-AMRO said. |

Over the years since 1998, I notice that TAC stock is one that follows pretty close to Technical. I think we can still make some decent $$ from here. |
