DBS report on Sing Ship. FY08 results surprised on the downside, with net profit of $3.8m falling way below our expectations of $6.7m, primarily owing to a $3.5m mark-to-market loss on financial assets held-for-trading. The weakening US dollar continued to affect charter income, with 4Q08 revenue of $3.0m down about 10% y-o-y. For the whole year, revenue declined 45% as a result of cessation of manning service for third party vessels from January 2007 onwards. Excluding a one-off gain of $5.7m in FY07, net profit for FY08 was down 50% or $3.7m y-o-y. About $1m of this difference was contributed by the cessation of manning services. The remaining stems from an unrealized mark-to-market loss on financial assets-held-for-trading of $7.5m and lower interest income of $1.7m, which was somewhat compensated by favourable gains on foreign exchange of $5.4m and lower taxation of about $1m. We have kept our FY09 earnings projection relatively unchanged and introduced FY10 forecasts. We expect earnings from the Group's 2 fully owned carriers to remain stable while contributions from Cougar Ace (30% owned) should increase after the time-charter gets renewed in Oct '08. The Group ended FY08 with cash resources of $65m, including $24m of assets held for- trading and the Group expects to write back some of the mark-to-market losses, going forward. However, market valuations still look stretched to us and we maintain our SELL call at an unchanged TP of $0.22, based on an ex-cash PE of 10x FY09 earnings. As we have highlighted earlier, the Group is not a feasible acquisition target and future dividends would be in the range of $0.02 cents per share, translating to a dividend yield of 5.1%. |

Report from L&T. Sing Ship reported a $1.7 mln loss for Q4 ended Mar ’08 because of $3.5 mln negative change in the “fair value of financial assets held for trading”. If not for this, operating profit was up 35.6%.
Net profit for the fiscal year ended Mar ’08 was $3.75 mln vs $13.11 mln the year before, which had benefited from exceptional gains of $5.67 mln.Facts to note:th. |

Company stock price moved from 41-42c price level to current 54 c after announcement of FY07 result and generous divvy of 12 c. Co. is sitting on alot of cash after diposing of most of its ships at its peak in 2005. NAV as at 31 Mar 07 was 42c of which about 38c is cash or near cash. eps for FY 07 was 3c but operating profit only 0.66c but interest income (from its cash horde) was 1.9 c. My take is its current price is supported by the forthcoming divvy........unless Mr. Ow announces what he plans to do with all the cash, besides dishing out generous divvy. |

Think downside is limited. At current price level (38.5cts), is at its cash/near cash holdings and disc to NTA of 40 cts. PE on continuing operation is 17.5x...and forecast FY2007 PE is 11.1x. At the moment not vested but waiting for trigger to enter ......new business announcement and/or attractive discount to cash horde. |

Sp Ship announced 1H 07 results......eps 1.1cts. Expect H2 07 eps to be similiar to H1....so FY07 est eps 2.2cts. NTA is 40cts per sh After completion of sale of Wallenius and Ow, estimated net profit is $5.5m (1.26cts per sh) and SSL's cash and near cash will be about 38.7cts per share. Hence FY 07 eps will be about 3.46cts per sh....PE of 11.4X As SSL is flush with cash, expect generous div for FY07. However, sitting on too much cash and not using it to generate more $$$$ is not really a good strategy. But, knowing Ow, I''m sure he's working on something.........akan datang..... |

It said that it will divest interests in two units for a total of US$16.42m with plans to partly use the proceeds to invest in new vessels. Payment of a special dividend may also be considered, it said. The company said that it will book $5.5m in exceptional gains from the divestment. The sale to Wallenius Marine AB and Wallenius Lines AB includes SSC's 50% stake in Wallenius Ship Management Pte Ltd and its interests in OW Shipping Co Pte Ltd. SSC currently owns 40% of the ordinary shares of OW Shipping and 50% of its redeemable preference shares. |

awesome, Gap in the charts is due to a 12cts divident payout. So, share price reflected this. |
