SMRT upgraded to "buy" Tuesday, October 30, 2007 2:59:17 AM ET Deutsche Securities LONDON, October 30 (newratings.com) - Analysts at Deutsche Bank Securities upgrade SMRT Corporation (ticker: MRT) from "hold" to "buy." The target price has been raised from S$1.85 to S$1.90. In a research note published yesterday, the analysts mention that a solid economy is likely to continue to boost train ridership, lending upside to the company?s growth and profits. Revamped stations are expected to boost SMRT?s profits in FY08 and FY09, the analysts say. |

SMRT typically moves 2cts + / - in a typically day which is what I have observed. Thus during the opening when it was a rarity 3 cts up, time to lock it in. In your case, if your target is 1.79, you can put in your order when it closes at 1.77 the day before and 'HOPE' that your order gets done 1.79 tomorrow. This is by no means 100% accurate method to sell so you may not get your order done this way as well. |

KiLrOy, Great timing. How do you monitor the stock so well? Don't you have to work too? My problem is don't have internet access during working hours. Can only set POEM to buy or sell in the morning going to work. If I set POEM at closing 1.76 with 6 bids higher tomorrow I can sell at 1.79 too. |

In view of increase cost in gantries and higher petrol cost more people will switch to public transport. With the recent increase in fare, SMRT's earning will continue to go up. |

This is a good counter to keep for long term. Fundamentally strong, recession proof (or even better during recession coz drivers sell their cars to take train). Slow moving but always moving northward.Offers dividend too. Choose a stock that make money from yourself everyday. My 2 cents worth.. Good luck... |

Hi folks, Thank you so much for your replies. I've already bought some shares in it myself. I'm just trying to understand people's interest in stocks. For me, buying shares is participating in a company's growth. So I naively think that, in today's down-down-down atmosphere, I should be picking up company's with stable income and great infrastructure. Hence SMRT. That doesn't mean that I'm not taking risks. I foolishly purchased some shares in Creative too. But, I just thought that people should be buying up on SMRT. Seems like a reasonable company to invest in for long term growth. Kelvin |
