Shares in PetroChina, Asia's largest oil and gas producer, opened 6.7% higher on Friday after it unveiled one of the world's biggest oil finds this decade.

It's listed on HK's H-share board. The stock's opening price was set at HK$9.52 in pre-opening trade.

PetroChina said on Thursday the discovery in China's Bohai Bay holds proven reserves of nearly 3 billion barrels.
