Due to one and only one this week,, it offer share placement is hottly taken up by fund and other institute and it pre-premium price is commanding at least a 30-40% more then it IPO price. |

Buying the whole mkt = buying index fund like STI, which comprises 55 listed companies on SGX, mostly blue-chips. KLCI = 100 stocks in KL. S&P500 = 500 companies in US. Most investors buy individual stocks that drop in value & never recover but with the whole market, it will never happen. Educator, time is always too late to buy or sell, I won't be able to advise you when is good. It depends a lot on your investment time horizon & portfolio, different for everyone. You shd analyse the mkts & trend over the years. I'll give you some reference at a later time. |

Thank you Warrek. You've been very helpful. Is now a good time to go for the STI? It is quite low now. |

Dear Educator, since you're a retiree, I assume you're on lower risk, my advice is to buy the whole market instead of going after individual stocks, go after the indexes for maximum gain with minimum risk... e.g. ave returns for STI 8%+ & S&P500 12%+, if you hold for 10yrs, you shd get these returns with min/zero chance of losing. Like I mentioned, do your homework 1st before investing, esp if this is your hardwork money. China's stock are for those who want to divest their portfolio to include some higher returns over the next few years as these company are currently under their intrinsic value & are growing. If you think 8 is good engh for you over 10 years, go for the former (i.e. STI). Once again CAUTIONS. DO NOT follow blindly anything mentioned here unless you know what you are investing. |

Hi all, Its been some time since I last post on this forum. I'm a retiree. What stocks are suitable for me right now? I am looking for long term stable income. Dear Warrek, you recommended 2 China stocks as long term investments. Are China stocks ok? I am really afraid of a China Aviation Oil scandal robbing me of my retirement money. |

Travelbug, Gd intention!!! WHAT TO BUY!!! Buy only when you know the company business... I code "If you don't understand it, don't do it" - Warren Buffett Identify very good businesses & buy them at huge discount, just like the Great S'pore Sale (or Great Share Sale)... <Long Term Investment> STI - past 18 years, hold stock 5 years, average returns 8.57%, 25% chance of losing, 75% gain. SIA - value buy in long run, SIA posted better than expected load factors in the month of May despite higher surcharge. Growth was broad-based with improvements across all major routes. However, oil price remains a main concern in the short term. Cash flow increase 11.6%, lower a\c mtce cost by 47%... Company restructure & new Airbus series expected to reduce expenditure. Now priced at $12.60. Tgt was once >$14. Linkhi - China's continuing economic expansion will drive demand for precision steel tubing & global demand for energy has also given higher level of oil & gas extraction activities. Current price of $0.24 below value, stock PE 6.4. Cash Flow increase 300% & EPS 150% up ending 2005, from previous year. Chinamilk - Sustained growth of China's economy, coupled with improvements in living standards & growing consumer sophistication, continue to spur growth of dairy consumption. FY2006, bull semen up 33.5%, pedigree cow embryos up 26%, with 3000 pedigree cow arrival at year end, milk production expected beyond 26740 tonnes. PE steadily reduce to 13 from 16, Cash flow increase 660%, EPS 24% up ending Mar 2006, from previous year. Now priced at $1.06, some analyst tgt it close to $2 in near future. CAUTIONS. These are some of the SALDI I personally eyeballing as LT investment, share here as e.g. of my analysis on WHAT TO BUY!! DO NOT follow blindly anything mentioned here unless you know what you are investing. Arrivederci |
