China allows banks to invest in Singapore-listed stocks under QDII program
BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) said it will allow domestic commercial banks to invest in Singapore-listed stocks as well as funds certified by the Singapore monetary authority, under China's qualified domestic institutional investor (QDII) program. The regulator said it signed a pact with the Monetary Authority of Singapore regarding monitoring the QDII program. It said the decision to allow investment in Singapore stocks and funds is aimed at broadening Chinese institutions' investment channels and diversify risks. The CBRC plans to sign a similar pacts with securities regulators in the US, Germany and Japan later, it said. The CBRC already signed QDII pacts with regulators in Hong Kong and the UK earlier. |
