President Bush mentioned something on the credit crunch...need to pay attention to Uncle?Bush even though there are many dislike on his previous "attacking" policy n US armies stationed in Iraq. Market is like EWW..there are some "bloodshed" n some winner in the war. |

Credit Card is not a problem as they've a limited spending relating to your earning power and your credit worthiness. Quite similar to Banks - they don't lend you the money if you've no money! Rayhope, you're referring to the S'pore Banks. In the US, it is still not 'out of the bag' yet for the final figures.....no one could confirm the total damage! However, the known problems have been dealt with and under controlled, at least at the moment........have to wait and see for any new problems to surface. Big headache for Mr Ben who is trying very hard to starve of recession in the US...........how much more can he cut int rates? Cheers! |

I read earlier somewhere that the subprime loans are only a small fraction of the total loans and thus should not affect too much. Are there any views on this ? |

Scotty, The FED could sink the DOW and kill the US economy if they choose to... likewise, the Monetary Authorities of other Nations. !...Not powerful? They can decide how much your $$$$ and mine is worth by just revaluing or devaluing or by defending! The subprime saga is a classic case of Capitalist invention of wealth expansion in spending future money based on expected future earnings with no concrete foundations whatsoever - just like predicting the stock market movements using zig-zag lines and projections. Show me one who could predict the Market Movements correctly all the time and I'll show you the greatest Liar of all times! But, one thing I'm very sure (bad time or good time) Santa Clause will come and go year after year without fail. Cheers! |

Cashiertan, exactly recession or not, u still can trade profitably. I just quit my job and trade fulltime. Although my current market income can't match my job's income yet, I'm much happier right now. I do what I really love to do. |

Hi ten4one, I happen to take a different view. I don't think the world's monetary authorities are that powerful or omnipotent to be able to solve the sub-prime problem very much. If they were, this problem would not have happened in the first place. |
