My experiences - one time when I keyed to sell and noticed the sell q (sell q in cfd = sell q in actual trades) went from 200+ to zero and then to a lower price, my order was still NOT done!!!! Another time, the reverse, buy q went to zero and new q's at same price came in and also gone to zero, my order still not done. Twice I had to call the cfd dept - one had to sell a lower price the other aborted entry. This is as bad as someone watching and manipulate yr orders, like in forex. Other problem - there is no stop loss mechanism, so when yr price slipped u must be there to key. Even if they have, I guess they will eat u up bcos they will know yr stop-loss point. I use less of it now. |

I suppose anyone can manipulate extremely low-volume counters rather easily. |

FYI only, used CFD to trade years back. Had bad experience. The shares I bought all lost money. That's why if you notice not all stocks are allowed for CFD trades. We are betting against them. If we win they lose. Low volume counters can easily be manipulated I believe. |

Nope, theres no first come first serve in CFD trades,as long as u key to short at current selling price, once the sell queue is cleared on the actual market, trades considered done. |

Is it true that no matter how early you've placed your order in CFD, your order will be executed only when the whole queue ahead of your price is cleared? Which means to say that as long as there's still a queue ahead of your price, your will not be executed (ie. there's no first come first serve as in real stocks)? Any clarification?

Can CFD be likened to the "bucket shops" in the world of commodity futures?...

well so far i have done 2 short transactionsusing CFD and i noticed that the live TIME & SALESon the counter i monitored did not add on the sell lots i entered, but my transactions were done. That means the brokerage did not sell for me on the market but accepted my entries still. So wat my doubts abt CFD is that if majority short using CFD which i believe so,then the actual number of shortists on the real market is greatly reduced and thus the brokerage houses can easily bet against us by longing against us as they have first hand info on which counters r lopesided bets of the day.Am i correct to say this? |

don't know about CFDs, but for normal trades, a brokerage house is able to carry out transactions (married deals) that are not at the current bid/ask price. so it entirely depends on what the house is willing to give you, and your deal with them. of course, a deal that is too far off the current bid is likely to raise SGX query. but it can be done. depends on whether house is willing to swallow your stake or not. |

Based on my observations, I believe that everytime when I buy a stock, they will buy from the market and sell to me at the same price. Of course, it depends on the brokerage's views about a company, and it may or may not buy or sell from the market even if your order is done. |

This happens all the time with the stock market. CFDs are just another type of financial instrument and therefore can be subject to the same manipulation. You seem to have strong sentiments about this. Care to share your experience? |

hi guys...since be it long or short CFD counters, you will not be holding any physical shares, does it mean that you r betting against the brokerage houses u bought it from???which means for e.g which ever counter has a lope-sided SHORT bet,the house will LONG that counter by buying up that particular share in the market to fight against the shortists???is this scenario possible, can any CFD players help clarify whether CFD is a fair investment???tks. |
