How is the opening price being determined?

yup...but buy/sell price is also determined by higher buying price....means u can jump queue if u buy at higher price....u know how bbs make $? |

The buy/sell orders are queued. The first matching order will give you the opening price. See Poems' Market Depth to see the queue. |

definitely got effect if dow close very positive....sometimes,first deals are traded at higher price to trap ppl into buying....my most buying is when dow drops...my selling is when dows up....but i always sell once it goes up a little....if not,i'll hold....however,most ppl will not dare to buy when mart drops...fear....dats how the rich make $....tonite dow should be up again...not vested today...bought some yesterday also sold today....cheers |

While Dow market movements the night before has an effect on sentiment the next day in Singapore, I don't think it has a DIRECT effect on the opening price. The opening price is just the very FIRST done deal closed by a buyer and seller. |

TuaPekGong9413, thanks for replying. Does SGX use certain mathematical formula based on the buy/sell queu before market open? Do aware that Dow closing will affect the buy/sell price that people enter on the following day though... |

janda,study today's time and sales for any counter and compare the price wif yesterday closing u will hv a better picture |

opening price is determined by whtr the nite b4 dow is positive or negative....if its very positive,opening price will be higher...if its negative,opening will be lower as compared to the previous day closing...if dow not much changes,then opening will be the same as previous day closing....nvr buy stock immediately when mart open if dow closed very positive th nite b4...cos every1 will want to sell at high price... |
