yea. agree with hohokit and vic. the market is always here. elfie def on sidelines for now. dun see much pt in shorting, since if you lk at the charts for a lot of counters, the downside is rather limited for a single day short. no sense risking thousands to gain hundreds. but ok, that's just my opinion. anw, just sitting out like hohokit. ie, wait and see. :) |

Hohokit's advice is the best of them all. stand by the sidelines during this period.....shorting is as good as contraing.. the differenence, T+1 vs T+3 so your gambliing odds are -3 days. There will be opportunities for that esp sophisticated traders but at your own risk as what Cashier & teeth. Shorting is always a negative opportunity to trade & I've never made money shorting in my 16yrs of trading/investment history with the exception of once (and by luck) where I oversold my position & had to wait for a buy in T+5 later & made a small profit. For the value guys, unfortunately (for many), it is these times where fundamentally solid counters get knocked back down to their earth or back into discount territory & the value guys come out to play when the dusk settles a little more. These stocks fall on such small volume that liquidation is a problem & that's where the house BBs depress them further without hesitation to force out more ppl & induce major margin calls. If there isn't enough margin of safety or cash to top up, that's where things get really messy during this period. Have seen it before in 1999. This sub-prime & credit is something that was forecasted 6mths back with the yen carry trades & sub-prime & poor US housing market. It's nothing new but of course, the numbers now that shows up just scares the shit out of ppl. But look at the real economy..... real goods and services market. Not property or stock market, it's booming all around the world esp the commodities. Real wages are still up globally, there is still threats of inflation whether demand led or supply led (in china & India)..... singapore GST led inflation haha....That's more important for the markets to continue their upthrend with corporate profits of the real goods and services showing growth. Hence this correction is the real messy one that needs to come and do some serious demage before the next leg becomes even harder.... a year end mega rally where 50% of price movements occur during the last 10% of the rally occurs. Can't tell if year end is it but u never know. Warren Buffet bought heavily into 3 railway stocks earlier in the year. That's a very telling message he is sending to the world. That is, he's confident of the US domestic economy for the next few years. |

SCI releases its results on aug 7. might not be a good idea to short it since its results will be good, in line with kepcorp... just my opinion, caveat emptor. |

Whether the stock market goes up or down, many people lose money... The stock market is such a beast...a monster... It is good to always remember this (even in times of utter confidence and good mood). The last time, many people "pengsan"... now again the same thing happens...

come monday ..shorting is the order of the day.. do some for blue chips...SGX, Sembcorp,Sembmarine if u can't beat em..join em..depress the market further.. NO RISK NO GAIN..good luck ;p;p |

Shot selling as saying goes...Ezsi, very easy...do it and U can have a very expensive lesson learn the hard way, that goes to buying into.. or trading in stocks as well. Every one of us here learn it the hard way evry now and then even with much more exposure and more experience. The trouble with human is GREED....  and what money can do to human Greed is....FEAR.

If listen to cashiertan sure loose a lot a lot of money........short selling can be simple with the situation today.....looked at DOW sea saw wave.....down 300pt, down 200 pts, up 150pt, up 100pt.....NOW down 280pts......... JUST DO IT ! SELL DOWN all the way ..... STI is goint down below 3100 pts by end Aug if not Mid Sep then up again after OCT then hit 4000 end of DEC 07....... Just watch and see........ Anyway, I just wanna to tell ppls here to Kan Kai Yi Dian, run first...keep the money for the low price then enter.......who have money to hold with the price keep falling......... U better do not optimistic of the stock from now and make pps loose a lot a lot of money..... Everyone is greedy.....everyone lose money still hope to make back the money .....BUT not now..... Be back after mid Sep........NOW just learn to "REN ! ZAI REN ! " "BO YAO MAI ! " |

if listen to ruanlai sure make lost.. short selling can be simple and can be complex. better do it only if u know how.. dun just ruan ruanlai!~ anyway, ruanlai, plz think b4 u post, ur posting may make ppl llose money. so even nickyng our inhouse shortist make no comment and i think u shouldnt, unless u can share a good way of shorting else avoid postings w/o substances thanks |
