just curious of the link between Seagate share (STX ) and Unistee (u24.si) and Western Digital, so I compare them. see attached chart when Seagate announced results , its share went down about 6%, Unisteel went down one day later and more. http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/z?s=STX&t=5d&q=l&l=on&z=m&c=U24.SI,WDC&a=v&p=s see also Seagate / WesternD two year chart, cyclical in HDD industry. Perhaps good time to buy their stock is in September time?? then take profit in next year Jan?? http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/z?s=STX&t=2y&q=l&l=on&z=m&c=U24.SI,WDC&a=v&p=s |

18 April 2007 HDD Sector (OUTPERFORM - Maintained) Quick takes - Weak June quarter guidance by Seagate by Jonathan Ng Seagate reported its March-quarter results this morning. It also guided for an unexciting June quarter. We are not surprised as 2Q is typically the weakest quarter for the HDD industry. Also, the projected qoq decline is well within historical trends. The unexciting guidance may result in some profit-taking for locally-listed HDD component suppliers, but we view this as a good opportunity to accumulate shares of Seagate?s key suppliers. We believe 2007 will be the year these companies benefit from increased volume post-merger, and 2H should see stronger volume. Our preferred names are MMI, Seksun, and Unisteel in Singapore, Cal-Comp in Thailand and IPE in Hong Kong. MusicDownload ZuneDownload |
