playable as the over-allotment/stabilisation factor is still in play. spore size is 14m, over-allotment 48m but yesterday volume exceeded 62m. On another notes uspect some political upheavels in future now that exPresident's son realised from jail(Indonesia) . Likely old man is going to conk off anytime soon hence many Indo Chinese's assets are rushing to be listed elsewhere than the Jkt Stk Exch. Present President has no guarantee can last forever. Chinese biz there must make exit/insurance before any Islamic fanatics think of nationalisation of assets. Actually Chinese biz earned so much they sh do more charity there to gain trust. Wilmar, ISG, Wiluan (KS Energy), PT Berlian Laju, Gallant are some of the few here. |

Gains were capped amid concerns that coal reserves at Straits Asia's mines on Sebuku island in Southern Kalimantan, Indonesia may not last beyond 10 years. The IPO was priced substantially below the maximum indicative price of $0.72 a share, but analysts say the stock may eventually reach that level over the next 12 months. |

It is expected to debut strongly tomorrow because investors see the stock as a good exposure to the rising global demand for energy, dealers and analysts said. The IPO was priced substantially below the maximum indicative price of $0.72 a share, but analysts said that the final price, equivalent to about 23x historic earnings and 8.6x book value, looked fair and should give investors a decent upside. "It does look like it's a good price," said David Radcliffe, an analyst at Sydney-based Southern Cross Equities. "The stock offers investors good growth opportunity." Radcliffe said the stock could rise by as much as 20% from its IPO price in the next 12 months. Straits Asia exports its coal to Japan, Malaysia, India and South Korea. Last year it produced 3 mln tonnes and this year it produced 850,000 tonnes by the end of March. The company expects to increase its output to 3.5 mln tonnes this year and to 4 mln tonnes next year. Its coal reserves in the parts of its Sebuku concession area that it has already begun to exploit are estimated to be 28.3 mln tonnes, and its potential coal resources in the parts where it has yet to begin mining are estimated to be about 73.3 mln tonnes. "In recent years, the growing demand for thermal coal has been fueled by soaring needs of booming Asian economies such as China and India. We believe Straits Asia is very well positioned to supply this growing demand for energy, given our geographical proximity to our key customers," said Straits Asia non-executive chairman Milan Jerkovic. JP Morgan analyst Ami Tantri, who is based in Jakarta, said demand for coal was sustainable because Asian countries were planning to build coal-fired power plants to augment electricity supply. "I don't see any problem with demand for both domestic and export markets, " said Tantri. Tantri said Indonesia produced an estimated 150 mln tonnes of coal a year, consuming 40 mln tonnes itself and exporting the rest, and that domestic consumption was expected to grow if the government goes ahead with plans to build coal-fired power plants with a combined generating capacity of 10,000 megawatts. Tantri said that while Straits Asia could benefit from the expected growth in demand in Indonesia and abroad, its mines in Sebuku had reserves that might last for only 10 years or less. The analyst said that even so, the company produced good quality coal and operated a modern facility with its own port. A dealer with a Singapore brokerage said Straits Asia should draw avid interest from investors because it was the first mining stock to list here. "It is expected to be above the IPO price, but it's not going to surge by much," the dealer said. |

It priced its $221m IPO at the lower end of an indicative price range. The move is the latest sign that investors are taking are more cautious view of energy-related assets and comes four weeks after U.S. marine fuel supplier Chemoil Energy called off a US$374m stock market listing due to poor demand. It said it sold the shares to investors at $0.60 each, 17% below the top end of a $0.55-0.72 indicative price range. Straits Asia Resources said it would sell an additional 48m shares after the initial offer of 320m shares was oversubscribed by 3.6x, bringing total proceeds to $221m. The shares are due to start trading on Friday. The company's assets include coal-mining operations in Indonesia's Sebuku island, in the province of South Kalimantan, and a commodity trading business in Singapore called Straits Global Trading. The Indonesian coal mine in Sebuku is expected to increase output to 4.0m in 2007 from an expected 3.5m this year. |

If this one is helped out by cimb-gk you can forget abt any support. Been observing their pattern is sell first until u almost die then the counter will resurrect in other funds' hands. Other sites mentioned that their big time remisiers are very good in shorting maybe combined forces at work to short to make $$$. |

I didnt apply for this one. When I apply for IPO, I also dare not apply for large quantity - just in case it is undersubscribe and you kena all the lots applied for. Usually that will also mean that it is not a good sign. |
