aiya this is nothing new since the start of any stock exchange. Tell the authorities to go after those in the futures pits, see whether they can catch any. Stock market is one of the smallest capital markets so easy to nap anyone. Try that in the Forex or Bonds or Options or Futures or even the Property Markets and it will be a waste of time. Not surprising the present market has generated a new breed of players with new breed of bankers. Everyone wants to be a day trader or sth like that. Make a fast half cent or 1 cent for momentum trading. So easy money why bother to go to work long hours. Plenty of dealers (who work for the broking houses) and they need to justigy their high salary you know. So rigging to benefit first the broking houses then themselves. Just steal food to eat make sure wipe mouth clean so that stall owners do not know you steal hor. |

How did they do it? Did the rigging occur over 1 day or over a period of time? |

2 former proprietary traders of CIMB-GK were charged with conspiring to create a a false or misleading impression of active trading by rigging share prices in 12-14 companies. On Apr 5 '05. The scheme involved trading in ST Engg, SingTel and DBS to manipulate the STI. They would then try to profit by trading in covered warrants which were linked to STI. On Jul 10 '03, proprietary traders also created a false impression that shares in DMX were being chased by large institutional investors. Beware! Things are not always what they seem to be. |

A former proprietary trader with Kay Hian Securities, now called UOB-Kay Hian, has been charged with 15 counts of share rigging, fraud and insider trading, the Business Times said on Monday.
The paper said that Eddie Thong Soon Seng, who was fined in 2001 for stock-market manipulation, is accused on four counts of rigging the shares of Citiraya, Qian Hu, Arianecorp and NTI International by creating a "misleading appearance of active trading" in the stocks. |
