Guess *** (up to you to figure out who's the Indian Chief) doesn't want to impress the IMF delegates by "ramming up" the market. If it doesn't get into the act, how is the market going to rally. If there is going to be one, the impending sign should have appeared one month ago. Pse wake up, instead of dreaming till 20 September of a rally!!! |

Hikitty is rite. The STI must get worse first b4 it can get better - very normal lah! Ya, when the Giants are running wild, all the dwarfs will be 'trumped' to death if they get into the war-path. Cheers! |

Be as patient as Job - the IMF mtg has not yet started. Wait till the cat (in waiting) springs upwards and when it lands, guess who is going to get killed? The "mice", of course. |

We'll see how it goes today. Today's performance will foretell the effect of the IMF. |

The last big event we hosted was the December 1996's WTO Ministerial Conference ... From below STI chart, we had a rally toward end of 1996 during that event. In my opinion, we will have our own rally this month .... Shiok! ----------------------------- In September this year, Singapore will host the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group Boards of Governors Annual Meetings. Known as Singapore 2006, the event also includes many high level meetings, a series of prominent international conferences and seminars, and a host of exciting programmes such as the Singapore Biennale 2006. Singapore 2006 will showcase and promote Asia and Singapore to the international visitors. The Annual Meetings are the largest gathering of global financial representatives in the world, comprising Finance Ministers, Heads of Central Banks, senior government officials, key decision makers and senior executives of global financial institutions, and the international media. We expect 16,000 delegates and visitors from 184 countries to visit us. In comparison, the WTO Ministerial Conference which we hosted in 1996 (December) had 5,000 delegates. So Singapore 2006 is on a totally different scale. This will be the largest international conference ever held in Singapore. |

I believe the direction of STI will be determined by external factors and not by the IMF / World Bank meetings alone. If Wall Street falls, STI will follow. |

IMF + World Bank = Cream Of The World Financial Personnels. Capture all of them, you can command billions....hahaha! Singapore already feel like the richest Nation in the World for the next 10 days!..................and so , The Stock Market will feel good too. All these so-called Protesters and Human Rights Activists are all noise makers with full bellies (if really hungry, where got time to protest!!!!) and nothing better to do and neither-here-or-there-type of persons. At least we Forumers here do engage in healthy exchange of views and 'hantam' Mr Market or 'Be Hantamed' and keep ourselves busy making or losing money! Cheers!!! |

Below extracted from the FT site, Travelbug .... a bit wild reporting ya. On your question on an induced rally during these events: 'YES' .... in my opinion, as I had previously expressed a couple of times with Temasek in play. At least a S'pore rally since September is known to be a tough trading month. FT Site: "The crackdown is part of tough security measures that Singapore will implement during the September 11-20 meetings. The government will also ban all outdoor demonstrations and has warned it will shoot at violent protesters, citing the threat of terrorist attacks." |

What do you all think? Will our dear STI hold up and rally in the face of the IMF event in Singapore? |
