For people who have been reading my posts and analysis about Hiap Tong, just felt the responsibility to share that I have sold Hiap Tong at a loss today for it's volume is getting " dead" and I personally do not have the patience to hold counters with low volume unless it got a high dividend yield like UMS. Having said, I still believe Hiap Tong is a good counter with bright prospects and sound fundamentals. Those who buy today at the closing price of $0.156 should have a dividend yield of ~3.84%. Those who bought at recent high of 0.39  have a yield of around ~1.53% base on average annual payout of $0.006. This is independent of any capital gain which I still believe will be fulfilled in the near future to come. My fair value of 0.33 for Hiap Tong as of now still maintain. Therefore, it is still good to keep, if one really have the patience (sorry I have run out) and excess capital. I do not know where's the bottom for Hiap Tong and due to the recent pennies' massacre, Hiap Tong though innocent is not spared either. But I do hope there's a rebound soon for Hiap Tong's investors and even if I miss the boat I am alright for I would be happy to see rewards coming to investors who have courage to buy at unknown bottom, and the patience and perseverance to believe and hold. Cheers!! =)

Pan united also good.. Cash rich, low debt and at current pricing, think got around 5% dividend yield.. Furthermore, as a cement and sand supplier, it can ride on the construction boom and land reclaimation projects that's ongoing in Singapore. However, it's volume traded is low and whenever there is a market correction, its price go down more than when it rises. Not vested yet but waiting for more interest to build up before vesting.. =) | |||||

Just to share some pointers before investing in a company: 1) Chart and technical analysis, support and resistance levels, uptrend/downtrend, ascending triangle, descending triangle, double peak, double bottom, etc? 2) Acid Test ratio 3) Current ratio 4) Net Debt to Net Income(excluding any extraordinary gains and deducting income taxes, interest expense, etc?) ratio 5) Debt to equity ratio 6) How much of revenue is in the form of trade receivables? How long does it take to receive back those money? Is there any bad debt that cannot be recovered? 7) Dividend yield 8) Discounted Cashflow Valuation (DCF), earnings per share, free operating cashflow, etc? 9) Industry outlook or prospects 10) Supply/demand underpinning the goods/services 11) Currency effects ? costs of imports from other countries and revenue from where goods are produced and later sold. What kind of currency is the revenue and profits denominated in? 12) Type of business, market, market share, competitors, etc? 13) Can company maintain at least same revenue and profit, or is it cyclical? 14) When results are not as good as expected, what?s the underlying cause? Will it affect long-term profitability? 15) Does the annual report sound convincing to you? Is it in line with what you see and believe also? 16) Shareholders and shareholdings. How much is public float? Is a large percentage of shares in the hands of one shareholder only? 17) For yearly revenue taken into account for DCF valuation, is order book > yearly revenue used? 18) Volatility of the stock and how strongly it reacts to news, especially negative news 19) Average volume traded  Thanks.. =) |

Same, UMS. Kreuz is good also but no dividends, can consider if one looking for capital gain. Vard also good to buy now but one have to take note, it is a super volatile counter and currently no dividends this yr I think. But based on it's 30% earnings dividend payout policy, base on current price now, dividend yield should be about ~3-5%. Hiap Tong is good also even though it is penny. If it continues to give out dividends and based on last Friday's market price of $0.178 and average dividend payout of ~0.6 cents, dividend yield is around 3.37%. These are some of a few counters I am vested in and they are more of for long-term investing, not short-term punting. Thanks.. =) |
