Take a good look at all the blue chips and when the Economy is performing well annd confirmed by the Authority, these counters (3 local banks, Kcorp, SembCorp, CityDev etc...) were all the targets of Foreign Funds and well-informed clients and move upward long before the reports were out. Hi T'chancellor, you're rite on the mark my dear friend! And try to understand that The Market is not always what you think it is - this animal is unpredictable. Always be prepared and you should be fine! Cheers! |

"As to px movements due to an Analyst's report. It is not true that px moves up and down due to good and bad reports. On the contrary, many have ignored the reports and moved adversely to the reports." Hmm .... do some research, pay attention to details and match to the release timings of some reports, you will find deinite correlations. Of course, to every selling there is buying too ... and vice versa. Market sentiments are deeply affected by these reports, at least in Singapore. regards, |

Thanks for the advice ten4one. I always had the impression that there is some form of structured format to follow in investing. Now at least i better appreciate and enjoy investing as we can tailor our own formula - of course as you say, so long as there is profit ;). The beauty of share investing is that is is also both art and science, plus i get to learn more about myself, such as amount of fear, greed/contenment, patience/impatience etc. Plus how people do business, mass psychology, financial lessons etc. |

Well, i'm actually not very knowledgable about the market and hope you could advise if my strategy is rite. First, i use FA method, (rather haphazard really), to check if a company is stable or not such as net profits... pe ratio... assets etc... Then wait for a while, perhaps 2 weeks to choose the time to enter. Guess its like FA first then some TA ;) |

Hi hikitty, I guess we don't have to wait that long, look at the current trend. It's moving up. If u were the operators what will u do? continue to try selling down or play with the flow to buy up the shares? Most painful lesson i learnt so far. Never catch a falling knife, and this stock is my best teacher...and got to thank all the forumers here for sharing the principles. Mr market is a harsh teacher indeed, and the most efficient one. Now its teaching me to be patient |

There're 2 schools of thought out there really : The efficient market - anything and everything you need to know about the stocks are priced into the stocks. The inefficient market - prices of stocks move at random. I take the middle ground and believe that the Markets have become more efficient than before because all Investors could now access to faster and better info. As to px movements due to an Analyst's report. It is not true that px moves up and down due to good and bad reports. On the contrary, many have ignored the reports and moved adversely to the reports. That's why I said the Markets are now more efficient as Investors are able to make their own decisions based on their own findings. Cheers! |

"Everything is already reflected in the price and performance of the stock," Not everything is reflected really ... this is stocks, there are always elements of punting, speculating .... If you have the money or the guts, try buying 1000lots ... and you will see that there will be punters following you to buy the stock. Also, if you were to follow AFX, Dow Jones Newswire or Analyst reports, you will find that the stocks price tend to follow the latest news or reports; of which some analyst reports are pretty crap >> a good example is GEMS TV - one of the analyst forecasted lower target price (over a lunch meeting). And the price came crashing down. A week or two later, another analyst wrote an entirely opposite scenario, and up went the stock price. |

Always jump in to buy before the analysts spot the potential of LMA. |

Tks Phoenixhot for the excellent pointer - very smart of you to do just that. Guess our govt shd assign a watchdog to ensure that a share is fairly priced not overpriced b4 it is floated. But, it shd "cheong" very soon to make up for "lost time", believe me. Those who have not bought shd seriously "mop" them up (buy the shares in the sell queue). |

LMA at its current price is cheap. They have been making decent money with existing layrngeal mask, and with Supreme, its masks will sell. With Stonebreaker picking up and based on the info on their website, Stonebreaker is a huge potential for kidney stones illness. Based on the number of kidney stones patients around the world, this can bring in good profits for LMA in the future. Good Luck! |

Px stay below IPO for so long simply means IPO px was too ex. Don't fall in love with a stock. Think of Opportunity cost. I had sold mine at a loss and has since recovered it from other stocks bought with the money. |

I'm no specialist but just a common guy. LMA is not CGL and likewise, you not me - simple commonsense. You can't compare Apples with Oranges. The Market is a strange place where the best company may not be the most profitable one to put your money in. It all depends on herd's instinct and pure speculationson forward earnings. That doesn't mean that fundamentally sound company is not worth the bet. The different is, it may take a longer time for the 'herds' to pay attention to. If LMA is in the property business and is not moving, then you should be concerned - something is serious wrong! Cheers! |

Reading the assuring postings of those vested make one feel very comforted. But, would any FA or TA specialist suggest the "strange" behaviour of LMA. Better prospects than most penny stocks, yet has underperformed. China Great Land, whose prospects can't be better than LMA, at least has recovered, since being listed in 2005 (same year as LMA) to almost its IPO price of 21cents. Retail investors, BBs. or funds have "overlooked" the profitability of LMA? |

Thanks ten4one for the pointer. Just can't understand why LMA can't be on a sustained upward move. Huge volume with small pward movement, which disappears the next day. LMA is trading below its "real" value and future prospects, yet is behaving strangely. Any expert would wish to suggest a reason or reasons |

Hikitty, you don't buy stocks because they're trading below IPO prices or vice versa. You buy 'cos the current px is trading below its 'real' value and of course future prospects....., or for other reasons. Market sentimental is very difficult to understand and full of surprises. This area is the Playground for Traders who never bother by the Coy's financial details. Cheers! |
