http://www.theinternational.org/articles/454-mexicos-nutrition-transition-makes-it-th Making matters worse - American fast food industry continues to widen its reach across Latin America in the new millennium. London, Tim Lobstein - The policy and programs at Int'l Association for the Study of Obesity believes fairly recent influx of fast food in the region to be similar to introduction of smallpox and measles by European conquistadors 300 years ago. To evidence this, the average man in Mexico has gained 15 pounds while average woman has gained 19 pounds since the introduction of the first U.S. fast-food chain in 1985. Similarly, in Chile, men have gained an average of 14 pounds, while women have gained more than 18 pounds since 1989. Even more, the rates of death from cardiovascular diseases in Mexico and Brazil surpassed those in the U.S. in 2008, while Chile trails close behind, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO). Most affected by Mexico?s ?nutritional shift? are the poor. According to Mexico?s National Nutrition Institute, ?In the poor classes we have obese parents and malnourished children. The worst thing is the children are becoming programmed for obesity. It?s a very serious epidemic.?

SWEET POISON -  Happi reading and have a weekend.    Diet soda in not a diet product!. It's a chemically altered, multiple SODIUM (salt) and ASPARTAME containing product that actually makes you crave carbohydrates. It's far more likely to make you GAIN weight!. This products also contain formaldehyde which  stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs. Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin. Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics patient Especially with diabetics, Aspartame passes blood/brain barrier and it then deteriorates the neurons of the brain, causing various levels of brain damage, seizures, depression, manic depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable anger  & rage. Consumption of Aspartame causes same symptoms in non-diabetics as well. Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects, i.e. mental retardation, if taken at the time of conception during early pregnancy. Children are especially at risk for neurological disorders and should never be given artificial sweeteners. Well!. You're informed! and you have the right to know. :) Last - Posted: 27-Jul-2013 15:18       |

http://www.theinternational.org/articles/454-mexicos-nutrition-transition-makes-it-th According to the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), 32.8% of Mexican citizens are considered obese, claiming the title over the U.S. with 31.8%. Meanwhile, Mexico has experienced a three-fold increase in rates of obesity and overweight among children since 1980, leaving 70% of today?s adult population overweight. Plight of city migrants - From year 1965 to 2000, urban population of Mexico grew by 36%, with a predicted 82% by the year 2030. On this point the FAO report contends: ?The most immediate cause of overweight and obesity is overconsumption of energy relative to physical requirements, yet nutritionists have long recognized that this does not explain why some people consume more than they need.? Speaking with the United Kingdom?s Daily Mail, Mexican resident of 20 years, Sally Neiman, says, '[Today] people go for more energy-intense foods. These are often high in sugar or fat. People drink Coca Cola as if it was water in order to have the energy to carry on ? and so many of the foods are rich in carbs, are full of cheese or are fried.' Coca-Cola for water...????. |

Rather than wear down cartilage and other joint tissue, running appears to strengthen them.

The usual aunties, uncles n pple's comment -  why rap?. Every time a runner gets osteoarthritis in their knee, all their friends and family say, 'See? I told you so, shouldn't have run. You did this to yourself.' 'But when five non-runners get osteoarthritis, people just say, 'Well, I guess you're getting old.' |

First likely case of H7N9 bird flu spread by humans reportedChinese scientists on Wednesday reported the first likely case of direct person-to-person transmission of the H7N9 bird flu virus that has killed over 40 people since March. The development was " worrying" and should be closely watched, the team wrote in the British online journal bmj.com, but stressed that the virus, believed to jump from birds to people, was still inadept at spreading among humans. |

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/brain-eating-amoeba-infects-12-old-girl-195136989.html View Photo  Naegleria fowleri, the parasitic microbe that causes primary amebic meningoencep … A 12-year-old girl parasitic meningitis caused by a rare brain-eating amoeba. The Arkansas Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that Kali Hardig contracted the disease after swimming in the Willow Springs Water Park in Little Rock, Ark. Hardig's mother, Traci, took her daughter to a local hospital one day after visiting the water park. " I couldn't get her fever down," Hardig told the Christian Post. " She started vomiting. She'd say her head hurt really bad. She cried, and she would just look at me and her eyes would just kind of roll." The brain-eating amoeba, Naegleria fowleri, causes a type of meningitis known as primary amebic meningoencephalitis, or PAM, according to the CDC. The single-celled microbe — found in warm, freshwater lakes and rivers — enters the body through the nose and travels along the olfactory nerves to the brain, where it destroys brain tissue. [The 9 Oddest Medical Case Reports] In U.S. most infections occur in the South during the summer months. PAM infections are rare: Between 2001 and 2010, just 32 infections were reported in the United States, according to the CDC. The microbe is not found in oceans or other saltwater bodies. Early symptoms of an infection with Naegleria fowleri usually show up within seven days of exposure and include neck stiffness, headache, fever, nausea and vomiting. Later, confusion, loss of balance, seizures and hallucinations can occur. The disease is usually fatal, even when treatment begins early. |
