Now read what Russell wrote last night on his website:
"We saw something that is extremely rare [on April 20 and April 25], in fact I can't remember ever having seen this before. What I'm referring to is that on those two dates all three Dow Jones Averages -- Industrials Transports
closed at simultaneous historic highs. To me, a fellow steeped in Dow Theory for over half a century, this was like a clap of thunder... My take on the situation is that the stock market (and the Dow Theory) told us that an unprecedented world boom lies ahead."
Russell acknowledges that what he has written will surprise many who are accustomed to his long-standing caution about the stock market. He imagines that we will want to respond by saying "But Russell, you're usually so conservative, so restrained. How can you possibly talk this way? Now you're talking about a worldwide boom. Are you smoking something we don't know about?"
Russell's response:
"I stopped smoking over 40 year ago. No, I'm simply relating to you my interpretation of what the market is saying. I believe the markets talk in their own secret language. And when the market does something that has never been done before, that serves as a 'kick in the pants' for me. It's telling me, 'Russell, wake up. Something very unusual is going on. Get up out of your chair -- and pay attention' |

Geojam, given your age it should big8, not even big6. How can be big 5? Geojam, yes I learned that very well too. It's especially a pain when you really have nothing to do. Keep filling 'training, training', there wasn't a code for 'nothing' etc. Besides filling in time sheet, I'm also very good at filing, laminating, photocopying, you name it. Any low level job that on the surface do not require any brain juice. When I became got promoted, I delicated these tasks to those newbies, not to torture them (like mother-in-law torturing daughter-in-law , in olden days, just to get even). For me, it shows in all these small tasks if a person meticulous, the attitude towards work etc. If they are sloppy in such mundane task, they are most likely to be sloppy in their really work. So, there is learning value in everything we do. Just how you perceive it. |

asterisk, during peak period, you wouldn't have time to go to the Gym!! However, it comes in handy during low period because there's not much to do, except taking part in Inter Big4 games. Anyway, you would have gotten an offer months ago, if you are graduating? It is usually done b4 the final exams, isn't it? Geojam, Big4 got prestige mah.. if you can get into a Big4, why choose a medium size one? If one is using the Big4 only as a stepping stone, then it doesn't matter if you are from Audit or Tax. (what I thot only). Up till this day, I'm proud of the fact that I once worked with one of them. |

definitely, godpa. kinda like, i asked for that kid's mail once via SJ admin, since i thought family mah, must be friendly to the young ones. plus, never know where you can help him and he seemed bright enough to learn. but he made the fatal error of not responding. Too bad. could have gotten him into one of the big four on my word alone. ah well, missed is missed. k, nites, got a long, long day tmrw and day after; won't be online. can't even monitor market. erk. |

ha. asterisk. if it's the big four you want, then realise that the most important thing in working life is networking. Esp for something as 'prestigious' as those companies, esp if you have no lobang to go in. NTU accountancy? what are ya graduating with, 2nd uppers or 1st? or perhaps you have some strings to pull in by yourself; alt did the internship with them in your final year? |

I am playing a "cat and mouse game" with the share price during the initial buy phase. Let me explain.
Case 1
I averaged up on ASL Marine from 90c to $1 (consolidation phase) a few months ago. But instead of taking off from $1, it turned back down to 95c. So what I did was sold off 25 lots at 95c so I get a profit from the earlier lots I bought earlier. Those 25 lots are meant for me to cover my positions and see where the share price wants to go. If it goes to 85c, I buy 5 lots, if it goes to 80c, I buy another 5 lots. But notice during the market crash, ASL Marine only went all the way to 88c. It is now $1.24. Although with margin account, I don't need to sell off those 25 lots, but it is important to exercise discipline and play around with the stock price from only the lots you accumulated from 90c to $1. I will only buy more when the share price crosses $1. That is why I have the habit of buying share price at a higher price. The reason is to cover my positions I bought earlier.
Case 2
I averaged up on Swissco at 59c, 66c, 72c and 74c. It then went all the way to 77c but I stopped averaging up already. Then it went down to 74c during the recent market crash. I decided to sell off those lots I bought at 74c. If it had gone down to 72c, I might let go those I bought at 72c. It is "cat and mouse" game. Swissco is now 85c.
If you analyse Case 1 and 2 carefully, I am actually a very careful investor. It is not easy trying to time the market. But I know a margin account gives me a lot of room to corner the share price with my cat and mouse strategy during the initial buy phase.
But once the share price decides to fly off, I don't do anything else.
So you are the mouse and the market is the cat. You can build many holes in the wall until the cat does not know which hole you are in. With margin trading , you can build so many holes that the cat is confused.
