Morgan Stanley also issued a glowing review of the economy. Merrill Lynch raised its economic forecast for the year to 4.5% and Moody's upgraded its rating fom stable to positive. Israeli companies are also high tech, with many top bio-tech firms there. Did you know that the popular instant messaging software ICQ is developed by an Israeli company? The outbreak of the Palestinian uprising and the onset of suicide attacks had sent the Israeli economy plummeting in 2000. As security forces gradually gained the upper hand, however, recovery began to set in, particularly after Hamas declared a ceasefire more than a year ago. The level of violence dropped and foreign investment poured in, sending the Israeli stock market to record highs. With the recent Israeli conflict, the stock market has fallen somewhat.
