Vard, the proposed new name for STX OSV, is a builder of AHTS (anchor handling tugs and supply vessels) and sophisticated OSVs. “The fundamental demand drivers for AHTS such as ultra-deepwater rig utilisation, dayrates, order book, etc. are at record levels,” writes OSK DMG, “We believe that new orders for large AHTS vessels are just around the corner.” The analysts have a target of $1.82 for Vard, a potential upside of 48% from its current price of $1.23. | ||||

I feel it might have some upside potential after the share price is bottoming (2 Doji at bottom) & 3/12 SMA, 2/19 EMA, MACD & stochastic are heading upward. | ||||

VARD has formed a base around 1.23 for the last two weeks. It had dipped below Fincantieri "low ball" price of 1.22 on a few occasions. I never believe I will see this price as a retail investor. Am I right to say we are on the same level as big investor who bought >50% of former VARD now? We are in exciting time as we are now able to get discounted price usually reserved for big boys. When will this good time end, only Mr Market will know. | ||||

STX OSV Holdings A Bargain Hunt Initiate with BUY A steal at current price. We initiate coverage on STX OSV (VARD) with a Buy and TP of SGD1.66, pegged to 9x PER on average FY13-15F earnings. As a quality Norwegian shipyard with a niche in high specification offshore support vessels (OSV), VARD deserves to trade at a premium to Asian OSV yards. The conclusion of its sale to Fincantieri Group removes the overhang on share price, while recovering OSV orders will support an earnings turnaround. With a potential capital upside of 35% and FY13F dividend yield of 4.9% (which can rise to 7.3% in FY15F), the stock is a steal. (Maybank Kim Eng Research)
