oops as you can see from post below, I am having problems with my posts... so quick replies: sporegal... I think I answer your question, and not I am now not in S Africa, I am now in Kenya going to take pic of flamigoes in lake Bogoria.. btw.. you seemed serious to take a holiday? I thot you settled on Vietnam: europe nowadays is very expensive as pointed out by fortunegal... and yes fortunegal...for budget traveling, I buy a Eurorail pass one month ticket... then ride the train all over europe, for lodging I sleep on the train (ie.free accomodation)... e.g take night train from Amsterdam and go over night to reach Venice in morning, see Venice then take night train to say Berlin etc.. then when I need a good shower/proper sleep I check into budget hotels on alternate nights.. fairygal... what do you say to j3r0m3's "Denn das ist eine interessante Fremsprache!" btw, are you really trekking up the Dachstein? you must still be very fit... |

Dear Yongjiu, Sorry too so long to respond.. as you see I am on the road... and the internet here doesnt really work, and if they do are really snail pace... so it is a real chore accessing it.. even to do trading (already I missed the action in GV..) anyway for the sake of the other forumners I repeat your question and give the translation.. Helau Herr Eastonbay und Herr chinkiasu, Was Sie beide Machen in Deutschland macht? No I dont really go to Germany that much ... and Eastonbay has given his rather interesting account (ps Eastonbay, I too have similar experiences even in USA but it always with the narrow minded - we in Singapore too have the same types)... And gift ??? here's btw, where is Auntie Bunnie...? Ich bin leben und arbeiten in Dusseldorf und Bayan auch! Zu nicht vergessen, um mir ein geschenk zu bringen ok? [hello mr E, and mr C, What are you two men doing in Germany? I live and work in Dusseldorf and Bayern. [oh &] don't don't forget to bring me a gift, ok?] |

Sporegal, I was on a classical theme for my last trip to Greece, so did not go Santorini. But it is really easy to get around. Try www.dolphin-hellas.gr, reliable. They are very efficient in terms of booking of rooms (good rates), and ferry tix. December is a good month, in my opinion cos the weather is nice, not too cold, and the sound of jingle bells are in the air. The winter there is mild, above zero. |

Fortunegal When i was working, next door to my office was the IBM building. I met this old man,he was working with IBM and he was a programmer. He design a program, during his free time, to indicate to him to buy or sell.First he used monopoly money and he actually make money, however he did not have to guts to go real money. He was prepared to share the programme with me but i was too involve in margin lending. Can u ppl in the IT industry get together and come up with such a programme.?I went back to IBM to look for him but he was gone. If u can come up with such a programme, forget about SAP ,u will be rich.probably would not want to know me.So do not say me uncle never give u ideas hah. Cheers |

Fortunegal, yeah.. I never expected it too that there are quite a few forumers here who speak German. I am sure there are others here who speak French, Japanese, Italian, Hindi etc... not forgetting IT languages like ancient COBOL, Pascal, C, C++, SAP, etc etc ShareJunction forumers are multi-talented . That's why I'm hooked on this forum. There are so much interesting things happening around here and so much to learn from each other! |

Singaporegal, I lived there for almost 3 years. Before I left for Germany, so many people told me that Germans could and will speak English and they are not as proud as French, who won't speak English even if they can speak it fluently. How wrong was that information! It is perhaps true in more cosmopolitan city like Berlin or financial centre like Frankfurt. Unfortunately, I was banished to a northern seaport city where it is nearer to drive to Danmark than to travel to Frankfurt. To my horror, almost no one speak English there. Can imagine how lost I was? It was difficult because I didn't know what was happening around me. Once I got stopped and scolded by a stupid xenophobic neo-nazi German for being a Chinese in the middle of a street!!! I had no idea what he was saying except from his facial expression. That was the last straw and I know I had to learn to speak the language. That's how. No lah, not on scholarship. Those on scholarship are usually sent to Ivy-league equivalent universities. Most of them are in Central and Southern Germany. |

fortunegal, Wah... SAP. Are you an end-user or SAP consultant? Pretty good money there. No lobang for you unfortunately... any for me? I have mixed experiences with Indian foreign talents. Some are really good .... the phrase - "World's Fastest Indian" really refers to them because some of them can code very fast! Hahaha! I have come across a few who have all the professional certifications in the world but can't deliver a decent piece of work. |
