singaporegal! *hugs* yep, concur with your call on STE. charts consistent uptrend. best of all, for yesterday's buy/sell data: large insti buy up lots; mainly retail sells. DBSVB tp is $4. Might be range-bound til its divvy date tho. ok, for stamford land: those interested: have been through the FA reports. its june and sept Q reports were honestly not fantastic when cf with previous year. what's interesting is its dec report tho, which gives the forward look for the march FYE. EPS of 3.08 up from 1.73 from previous dec Q. NAV of 48c cf to 45-46c previous. Going by the FYEs of the props/land stocks released, likely its march FYE is going to be good. Divvy yield appears to be abt 10% to me--so this year's shd be abt 3.5-4c if i'm not mistaken? shplayer/anyone, could you pls estimate the divvy yield? that's not my expertise... HPL: advise caution. Some brokerage houses appear to have been overly optimistic.... DBSVB call is $5.15, this might be a better px than the 8.10 suggested by another house....pls note tho that friday closed with mainly retail buy ups and insti sells. |

hey all, da gege, pls allow me to kiv on the FA for stamford land for now; really too tired to read the FA reports. But the TA call i made for it still stands. i'd look to enter abt 37c, but it's stayed consistently above that. (to recap: book value 52c, fibo target 55c). Yesterday had consistent large buy ups. low vol stock tho. would you be able to calculate the divvy? is it 4c? HPL: FA-wise appears sound, they have huge potential because of the land they own; plus, firing on all cylinders, as the DBSVB report says. Into hotels, land, residential props etc. I'm not sure if the PE ratio they use is too high tho. Tech-wise: very bullish stock. By fibo target tho: this current high should go to 4.84--it hit 4.86 already. so there should be some pullback. My estimate is abt 4.10. But caveat emptor tho. Pls note yesteday's data of large institutional sells (consistent above 100 lots) and retail buys (1 lot, 5 lot etc). looks to me like the same old story of broker call buy up while they're selling....i need to read their FA report to see what value they're worth; gimme some time for that. |

Vic, Sorry, its 'Fellowship of Shares'. The stocks I am monitoring are essentially those I posted in the FA table earlier this month. In particular SPC - Will make a move below 4.40...with 35cts (tax free) divvy, cost is 4.05. FY 2006 eps aobut 55cts...and it had a exceptionally high writedown of about 16cts(?).....increased earning from uostream business .....Oyang field commencing production 2Q. SCI - Watching the performance of 1Q07...in particular the Utilities sector. Marine sector (SCM) is more or less pre determined due to running at full capacity. Courage - looking to buy on dips below 20cts. MIIF - Actually I unloaded about 50% of my holdings after xd. Its still a good defensive divvy stock. Hope to buy it back cheaper later...and in the current mkt situation, there is a good chance of it dipping before HY results (and interim divvy) is announced. Stamford Land - actually already fully loaded but will consider accumulating more if it goes below 38cts. FY07 is 31 Mar. So, there may be some play before results and expect divvy to be generous. Sp Ship - Current price good disc to NAV . Divvy expected to be good...guess will be about 3 cts.....but there may be a good chance that they may distribute more of their cash. Problem with this stock is there is no 'story' at this time. GMG - a recovery story; still undervalued and trading at about NAV, low PE...but got to contend with the volitility of rubber price. HPL - Revaluation of assets story.....still working on the numbers...your opinion? SPH - getting to look good at Fri closing of 4.28. HY07 ended 28 Feb. So, can expect results (and interim divvy) announcemeent soon. Good for a short punt....and may go abit longer. Your comments appreciated. |

yes, much things to chat about, except it might be too boring for other forumners... lets see what fancies them... btw just got back from walking the Kranji Nature Trail...too early.. the path soaking with dew, encounter lots of spider webs... and almost walked smack straight in to a giant (webmistress?) spider that has spun a >1 metre web across the trail.. wished I had taken a picture of it but it was too dark, and besides my poor walking partner was swarmed by some insects, i had to hurry along... I will go back later.. |

yes, Eastonbay... it would appear most of the forumers are taking a break. (after the bloodbaths...). actually nothing much to post about re stock market as everybody is just waiting to see the full effect of "the correction" as for me spent the evening listening the local university orchestra, play the Russian Eastern Festival Overture, Beethovan's pastoral symphony & Jean Sibelius' Symphony No 2 in D Major, Ops 43.. I am impressed.... although I am in the concert, I felt so close to life, nature.. a nice change from stockmarket, physically running around... |

how true, and observant, Choohian.... indeed penguins dont fly.. perhaps then on you next leg to Toronto... you could do this you are right that Toronto would be warmer, but it would be still about 21F (and you gona feel -15C too) and SNOW !!! do keep yourself warm.. and if you are not, just think about us here.. a nice balmy breeze, and as for me I am going for a walk in Kranji Wetlands (and taking pictures of flowers and of coz birds that fly......) |

chinkiasu, sorry for this late response to your post/emoticon. I think the "airplane" looks like a penguin and penguins don't fly. Well, I am now in Canada, Winnipeg, to be exact. It is now -14 degrees C. It will be warmer in Toronto where I should be tn the next few days. Miss the SJ discussions.

Me too, i.e. too much sacrifice. Besides, I think my body cannot tahan the super fast pace after 5 years, blames it on age. Definitely pay was very very good especially if you are top-tier performer. Yearly pay increment was so good that if you don't leave after a few years (if you intend to leave in the first place), you would not want to leave. Also, in those days we could claim OT by the hour. They pay you back half yearly or you can take prolonged holiday. 4-6 weeks leave in a row is not uncommon. Not sure if it's still the same now though. Hardly any other firms/companies will allow that. That's one compelling reason to stay. Also, I missed the fact that you were surrounded by many people of the same wavelength. |

Some people actually like the fast pace of work and of course, the prestige of being in management consulting. Pay was also very good of course. But at the end of the day, you gotta ask yourself if it is really worth to sacrifice so much personal and family life for a company. For me, that answer was NO. |

Hi Eastonbay.... I also have IT background. :) When I was in consulting, I witnessed many failed marriages among my colleagues. It was really crazy... 24-7 type of life. You really make a lot of sacrifices to stay in this line. |

tanglinboy, so we were the same breed. Agree totally about "work like shit, but learn a lot". What I like about consulting is the industry exposure. You see so much in short period.
