I think short selling is more riskier than long buying. However, longing must be with your own money. Shorting is best done on technical short selling, i.e. selling your shares first and than buying back again. This way, you will take back some money and yet own the same number of shares of that counter you are selling first and buying back later. This way, over some time, you will find that your buys are cheaper than before. |

What happens if u naked short and suay suay it halt? Or if CFD short and it halted? Anyone experience b4?

I agreed with U all. Pls dont use dangerous naked short, if want short use CFD with right leverage control level and right money/risk management. I uses because i know something and i had the confidence and risk control. (I expert in S-chip, so this new IPO is chicken for me but not for yours) Some of U PM me for more infor, pls dont play short la. Shorting is very dangerous if U cant even play long well, pls forget it. I will not talk about short again, is bad for the market, bad for those still long inside, and bad for those wish to long. 1 side win, another side will lose like siao. So if short pls short quietly, dont harm more to others. I want to said sorry to those still inside. Market belongs to everybody. Cheers and good luck :) |

Agreed. Naked short is as good as playing russian strip poker. Lose all clothes liao still kana shot! Unless you can yourself cover in time. hehe |

if you want to short sell, choose a sti component sti index counter and just do it.
try not to short low volume counters unless you have lots of money to burn.

I will give some dangerous example of shorting play. Aka, SM(self murder), self shoik, self shot, sell and shock or sell your shorts. Shorting need more skill than long, so if u fail in long, mosty u will kanna rape more in short. U must had at least 1 years+ of active market trading exprience first. My friend want me to teach them short, i told them to master long first, if not they will die faster. Shorting is not as easy as they think, u need an opposite mind of other side. Most new bird r greedy and die horrible in short zone, most just took a lazy 3 days how to financial freedom course and think money is easy to earn, dont need work liao. But there r also full time successful trader out there, they r the one that learn and fought hard along the way. Heros with scars on their whole body, marks of market exprience. To newbies out there, if U die die must play, dont play too big and treat it as a learning process. Even U fail, u wont die that horrible ugly. When times come, U will knows. Types of shorts: Naked Short- Short first and think later within a day. U must know that counter and market very well in order to success, dont just follow anyhow short. CFD Short- Play like a long to short that can leverage with financing charge. Good for short term play, dont use this for buy and hold unless u know something. Technical Short- U already long some on this counter, when correction, short same amount to hedge your lose to profit. Naked short expiry here still got excuse... Institutional Short- Those r BBs play, forget it. Unless, If px peak with BBs inside run road, during start of bear/down, short till U shoik if u get the right timing. Sector Short- Short 2 different kind of sector that kanna hit most in rotten bear market, if misskill one, still got another one to pull through. Safest bet for bear. Both Way Short- One side short down, another side long up in same counter. If u lucky, u even get arbitrage profit. More skillful play needed. Anyhow Short- This one even need more skill! Be brave, be very very brave, just give me your money can liao :) There r many shorting name and play, but the most important thing is, U must know what U r doing and what is the risk level. Shorting is a more strategic play than long. There r bull, there r bear, there r even cow. But to me, there r just the same animals. Read somewhere someone suggested those who want to try and learn short selling to use " freezer" stocks, if any, since unload too painfull. Advisable ? | ||||

My amateur shortselling experience 2 ways 1st way. Choose a cheap buy frequently traded counter during a day of panick selling. eg Electromotive buy 0.011 and sell 0.012. During a day of panic, sell all the share available at 0.011 till it reads: Electromotive buy 0.010 sell 0.012,.. Then put up order to sell another 5000 lots at 0.011 so it reads Electromotive buy 0.010 and sell 0.011. Sell 1 lot at 0.10 so it read electromitve buy 0.010 , sell 0.011 Last done: 0.01. Now start queueing to buy at 0.01. However make sure you put up enough order to sell at 0.011 to intimidate others from buying up and enourage them to sell their stock. Once you bought enough, cancel all your sell orders and there you go. 2nd way. After a previous night of free fall in NYSE, choose a stock that is always in the Top 20 Volume. After bell opens, BB will short sell first then buy back. Sell during the buy back and buy back later the day. Anyway, I dislike short selling cos the risk is high and gives you alot of anxiety. Make sure you buy back on the same day otherwise the fine is very very very heavy. My last few 5 shorting attemps are: Sheng Siong, Cosco, Cosco, Ezra and Electromotive. Won in 4 attempts and lost in 1 attempt. However, it makes me feel mmore like a gambler then investor. Dun like this feeling. |
