Somewhere in April, I did warn to be careful and on the lookout for " censorship" by the Australia.  I hope many forumers would have got out at around 1.50 then.  Looking at the situation, don't long yet.  Got to study the charts first for a while and maybe see if there is any insider volume before getting in. Cheers.

0111 GMT [Dow Jones] Tiger Airways (J7X.SG) falls 16.0% to S$1.00 in active trade on news Australia''s aviation regulator ordered the carrier to suspend its domestic services until July 9 over safety concerns. Tiger says the suspension will cost the airline about S$2 million per week. " We do not think that the losses are substantial for this initial period of suspension, but the financial impact could be significant if the suspension period is extended or if their flying license in Australia is revoked," says Phillip Securities. It adds, " with safety concerns and the disruptions experienced by passengers, the company''s reputation and consumer confidence is negatively affected. Furthermore, this disruption gives their competitors an opportunity to capitalize on their woes and increase their market share in the highly competitive domestic business." The house downgrades the stock to Trading Sell from Hold and cuts its fair value to S$1.07 from S$1.60 it adds, " while we see long term value in Tiger...we expect downward pressure on its share price in the near term." Australia may extend Tiger Airways grounding AFP Sun, Jul 03, 2011 SYDNEY - Aviation regulators were discussing Sunday whether to seek court approval to extend the grounding of Tiger Airways Australia, as the airline vowed to fix its problems and get back in the air. Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) on Saturday suspended all the budget carrier's domestic services as they posed a "serious and imminent risk to air safety". The decision - the first grounding of an entire fleet in Australian aviation history - followed a series of incidents that raised questions about its airworthiness. The final straw came when a flight approached a Melbourne airport too low late Thursday - the second such breach in a month. CASA spokesman Peter Gibson told AFP a meeting was scheduled with Tiger executives early this week, and much depended on what they brought to the table. "We have a team of people working through the day on various issues and we are due to meet with Tiger in the near future. A lot will on hinge on those discussions," he said. "The process is that the Civil Aviation Safety Authority can only ground an airline for five working days. To go any longer than that, we must approach the Federal Court, and put a case for extending the grounding. "We're looking at that issue right now." The Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association said the low-cost carrier was likely to remain grounded for "weeks". "They have quite a way to go before they can satisfy the regulator that their aircraft are going to be in a fit state to fly," said association chief Steve Purvinas. A subsidiary of Singapore's Tiger Airways, Tiger Australia operates about 60 domestic flights a day, moving up to 9,000 passengers. Australian authorities have been closely monitoring the airline and issued a "show cause" notice in March threatening to vary, suspend or cancel its licence over safety worries. It was ordered to improve the proficiency of its pilots, boost pilot training and checking procedures, address fatigue management issues and ensure "appropriately qualified people fill management and operational positions". Tiger said it was cooperating with CASA and committed to a long-term future. "The week ahead will be a busy one as we continue to work with CASA to reassure them, resolve the concerns they have raised and aim to resume our services as quickly as possible," it said. "The Tiger Airways Australian team and its parent company are absolutely committed to the airline's long-term future in Australia. "The airline has made a significant contribution to the domestic aviation market over the last four years, reducing air fares by 15 per cent or more and thereby allowing more Australians to fly. "This positive outcome has not come at the expense of safety and Tiger Airway's operational safety will never be compromised." Nevertheless, Australian and International Pilots Association vice president Richard Woodward said it would be an uphill battle to win back public confidence. "There's no doubt there will be brand damage just by being grounded by the civil authority," he told reporters. "With a strong parent company behind them in Singapore, I don't think the initial loss of cash flow will be a problem. But it's whether they will have the will to reinvigorate the airline." The grounding comes at the beginning of the busy Australian school holiday period, throwing travel plans into chaos. Budget rivals Jetstar and Virgin are both laying on extra flights to help stranded passengers while Qantas engineers called off strike action this week at the request of the government.

TTMediaStatement.020711.pdf  MEDIA UPDATE STATEMENT FROM TIGER AIRWAYS AUSTRALIA     Following the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia’s (CASA) instruction to suspend  Tiger Airways Australia’s domestic services until next Saturday (9th July), the airline’s  immediate focus has been on reaching passengers whose immediate travel plans have  been disrupted as a result, as well as ongoing cooperation with CASA.    Tiger Airways is offering these passengers its sincere apologies and will continue to do  all that we can to minimise future disruption. Those who are effected will be offered a full  refund or credit for deferred travel. We urge customers with bookings within Australia  between now and 6 am on Saturday 9th July to not travel to the airport.     Tiger Airways’ services to and from Singapore are not affected and will continue to  operate normally.    Tiger Airways continues to cooperate fully with the industry regulator and we wish to  reassure the Australian public that safety has and will underpin our operations at all  times.    Having mitigated immediate passenger disruption to the best of our ability, Tiger  Airways’ next priority is working with the safety regulator to achieve a satisfactory  outcome to this investigation at the earliest opportunity, as we did with the recent Show  Cause Notice. In this case Tiger Airways has taken steps to comply with the conditions  required by CASA as a result of this process.    Tiger Airways has already taken steps internally to address the specific issues as well as  wider safety concerns CASA has raised. We are committed to resolving these quickly  and resuming our services as soon as possible. We will continue providing regular  updates via our website (www.tigerairways.com) as well as through the media.     Passengers who have booked travel with Tiger this week are again reminded to not turn  up to the airport.     Virgin Australia has also offered to assist effected Tiger Airways’ travelers where  possible over the coming week. Please see the following link for more information.  http://www.virginaustralia.com/servicedisruption/index.htm    NOTE TO MEDIA – THE NEXT TIGER AIRWAYS MEDIA UPDATE WILL BE  PROVIDED AT 15:00 HRS AEST ON SUNDAY 3RD JULY. ALL FURTHER RELATED  QUERIES AT THIS TIME SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO CASA.    Please note: Tiger Airways' call centre is experiencing a high volume of calls at this time but the  airline has added extra agents to help field the volume of calls.    Passengers are advised to monitor the website as it will be updated regularly throughout the  week with further updates.    As of 11:00 pm on Friday 1st July 2011, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of  Australia (CASA) has instructed Tiger Airways Australia to suspend domestic  services until Saturday 9th July, whilst it conducts further investigations into two  recent operational incidents.     Tiger Airways’ services to and from Singapore are not affected and continue to  operate normally.    Tiger Airways continues to cooperate fully with the industry regulator and safety  underpins our operations at all times.    The airline is currently working with the safety regulator to achieve a satisfactory  outcome to its investigation at the earliest opportunity, as was achieved with the  recent Show Cause Notice. Tiger Airways has fully complied with the conditions  required by CASA as a result of this process.  In the meantime the airline is doing all it can to minimise passenger disruption,  especially for passengers who are travelling this weekend and over the next  week.  Customers with bookings within Australia between now and 6 am on Saturday 9th  July should not travel to the airport. They will be offered a full refund or credit for  deferred travel.    Tiger Airways will be providing regular updates via its website  (www.tigerairways.com) as well as through the media.  The airline apologises for any inconvenience caused to its passengers. Tiger  Airways is committed to resolving the issue, assisting CASA and to  resuming services as soon as possible.    NOTE TO MEDIA – THE NEXT TIGER AIRWAYS MEDIA UPDATE WILL BE  PROVIDED AT 15:00 HRS AEST ON SATURDAY 2ND JULY. ALL OTHER  RELATED QUERIES AT THIS TIME SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO CASA.  Please note: Tiger Airways' call centre is experiencing a high volume of calls at this time but the  airline has added extra agents to help field the volume of calls.  Passengers are advised to monitor the website as it will be updated regularly throughout the  week with further updates.  |

monday (4 Jul) Tiger Airways will crash! JULY 2, 2011 Tiger Airways Australia domestic flights suspendedAir Aviation News — The Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has suspended all Tiger Airways Australia domestic flights with immediate effect from today.
The services to and from Singapore, however, would continue to operate normally, the Australian Associated Press reports. CASA says the action has been taken because it believed permitting the airline to continue to fly would pose a serious and imminent risk to air safety. It said the suspension of the Singapore-owned Tiger Airways Australia followed the issue of a show-cause notice to the airline in March this year, and taking Tiger’s response into account it has imposed a number of conditions on the airline’s air operator’s certificate. “They include actions to improve the proficiency of Tiger’s pilots and their training and checking processes, changes to fatigue management and improvements to maintenance control,” it said. Tiger said its domestic services would remain suspended until next Saturday while it conducted investigations into two recent operational incidents. It said its services to and from Singapore were not affected and would continue to operate normally. |

Take this with a pinch of salt. Why did CEO sell of his one million shares? Although I must  say the price now looks very tempting. But if analysts' calls are true, very limited upside and also various other current aviation factors. higher fuel costs etc. Shares of Singapore budget carrier Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) fell to the lowest intraday level since March 17 on news that Tiger CEO sold one million shares in the firm and on analyst concerns that its budget carrier alliance with Thai Airways may fall apart as the Thai carrier sets up its own regional airline. Tiger shares dropped as much as 3.6% to $1.33 in early trade on Thursday, but had since edged up to $1.34. On March 17, Tiger stock hit an intra-day low of $1.32. Tiger CEO Tony Davis sold one million shares at $1.42, below the IPO price of $1.50, cutting his stake in the company to 0.57% from 0.75%, according to a filing to the Singapore Stock Exchange. “It shows that the management itself is not confident of the direction of the company,” said Melissa Yeap, an analyst at DMG & Partners Research. “I think that’s why it’s particularly leading to the share price fall, coupled with the fact that Thai Airways is setting up its own airline,” she added. Thai Airways (THAI.BK) announced that it will be setting up a new regional airline, tentatively called Thai Wing, which is expected to start operations in early 2012. Last year, Thai Airways formed an alliance with Tiger to form budget carrier Thai Tiger Airways, but Thai Airways chairman said the launch would be delayed for another two or three months from May. However, Yeap said DMG maintained its earnings estimates for Tiger partly because the brokerage had factored in the possibility that the Thai Tiger alliance will not materialize. DMG has a neutral rating and a $1.40 target price on Tiger.
