0246 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: Credit Suisse says it likes Genting Singapore (G13.SG) as a high beta and liquid proxy for the Singapore tourism sector. Cites "burgeoning tourist arrivals (projects 16% growth for 2011), positive GDP growth for Singapore and neighbouring Asian economies in 2011-12E and an active stock market." It adds, anecdotal evidence suggests Genting had a happy holiday season: "The integrated resort was packed in end-2010; hotels were operating at maximum capacity while theme park tickets were sold out for November-December. Aside from year-end festivities, strong CPO prices could have boosted spending by punters from nearby Johor." The house reiterates its Outperform call, noting the stock's 6% underperformance vs Singapore's market year to date, while "its long-term outlook is attractive." It adds, taking 2010-12E EBITDA CAGR into account, the stock "appears relatively cheap vs global peers." Credit Suisse's target of S$2.65 implies 30% potential; shares are down 1.5% at S$2.03. No one should be disappointed with the market. Neither should one jump high for joy when there is a gain. Gains are the result of making right bets skillfully executed. Losses are the result of badly-made bets...

If you had read my very earlier posts, you would have known that I always take no notice of so-called 'fundamentals' in my trading. Stocks go up, and down, regardless of whatever fundamentals there is. Since stock movements are all that matter, fundamental are not relevant. Moreover, it is not possible to know all fundamentals there is to know. The only fundamental that we need to know is that the company will continue to exist, come what may. Of course many studious investors will disagree much with this view. But diversity of views is the very nature of stock market itself...

hmmm i don't know FA.... based on TA gar at 0.79 was at great heights..... but if based on FA, could it be undervalued? perhaps FA will show that gar's true value is actually above $1? sorry i'm just guessing here as i don't know FA.... but i agree with you on this "Good fundamentals is best when one is spotting stocks that have been battered down to gutter prices, when nobody takes a second look at them..."

It must be taken in context... Good fundamentals is best when one is spotting stocks that have been battered down to gutter prices, when nobody takes a second look at them... But to buy a great stock at great heights, when potential for falls is great, is the height of folly...
