Dear Readers, It is simple to me, I just buy "JiJi" i.e. Jishan and Jilong 15K each, both hold for two years or when my total portfolio value has reached Sgd. 180,000.- I shall redeem it whichever earlier. |

Dear Traderwiz, if you had plunk the 30k for SPC i.e bot say 8 lots at 3.38 on 26th Jan, the paper profit would be $640 today and I suspect by next week it maybe more.... |

Beside the IPO, the non stop daily trading also make it growth. Sgx is just like a money making machine for the share holders. u only concern they make more or less for u. The price is high now, but it will go higher. just like keppel corp in 2003 its price is 5+, during that SAR period people also said the price is high but now is 17+. if u check back capital land, same thing happy also. |

SGX is very expensive in my opinion although I think it is one of the safest stock as the company would never go into liquidation. It has a good management at the moment. The company can only grow with more IPOs and counters listed. Agree that one should not over-diversify. Just buy one or two good stocks with it. Still doing study which stock to buy. I am about to redeem my DBS unit trust which would give me that $$. So I am glad someone asked the question and I can use the advices given in the various responses. Thank you all. |

If you have only $30K for investment, the worst thing you could do is to over-diversify. That would eat into your profits. |

Hi all What happen if the oil price really go down to US$30 :) as predicted by studies ? So i think for the moment SPC price might still be side way for sometimes. The recent bullish was due to the dividend declared. It will be confirmed uptrend if it stay up with 'healthy' volume :) |

hi traderwiz, re your question I would just plonk whole lot to FA play.. because I believe SPC is really undervalued.. and hang on for somewhile.. for me, i think 30k (economics of scale wise) not great to play different counters. I would end up paying brokerage fees more than making money myself.. also for me I dont know enough of margin calls etc.. there are pitfalls, but I would have to be sure then I go for it.. thats why i am chinkiasu... but thats me... there are really good advise from the other folks in this forum do go for it .. |

iPunter, I would like to seek your advise. What proportion of your capital do you use for long-term holdings and what proportion do you use for trading? For me, i use a 3:1 ratio. Dunno if this is optimum, although it has worked so far. |

S$30k to buy good divvy shares, like singpost. Then margin lend another S$30k also buy singpost. So u have S$60k worth of singpost.Divvy is about S$3k which is enough to pay the interest expense u borrowed for the S$30k. the interest expense is about S$2k. This leave u with S$1k in surplus. Do not spend the the S$1k surplus. Use the S$1k surplus to reduce the margin loan to S$29k. Next year ur surplus will be more and the margin loan get less. |

Use $15k to buy informatics and $15k to buy china aviation now and adopt warren buffet style "pa shi bei zhao" hold until old. Let use time to prove me right at the end of year. You can quote me at at beginning of next year to check the return. |

this is strictly my opinion yea...but if i had 30K to play: -15K into one or at most two good, undervalued, underplayed FA counters. 15k isn't a lot, so you have to pick your stocks well. target of at least 30% return. -15k into TA stocks. i'd play sequentially in one stock each time and roll over profit into next stock for cumulative benefits. so counting 8% gain each time for 8 plays, and 3 losses (stop loss max 5%), total of abt 11 plays a year should reap you >10k. This will be hedged against your 'safe' FA stock. so you can potentially make 2x, i.e., 15k profit. Even if your TA skills are bad and luck factor etc, you shouldn't do worse than a bank return of 0.25%. Realistically, your total returns including unknown factors should be abt 50%. sorry, i don't do margin or short. |

I've learnt my lesson... To survive in the long-term, use only a small portion of your trading funds for trading, not utilise all of it... more so especially with leverage. |
