Straits Asia's Q2 earnings down 43.3%


Straits Asia has posted a 43.3 percent drop in second quarter net profit to 21.4 million US dollars from a year earlier.

It says the decline in earnings was mainly due to 14 million dollars of warrants expensed during the quarter as well as higher provisions and tax expenses.

Revenue for the three months ended June rose 8.6 percent to 175.6 million US dollars.

Straits Asia says despite the global economic downturn, it's well placed with production for this year as the prices for its orders were mostly negotiated in 2008.

And it has continued to supply its customers without a build up of stocks.

Looking ahead, the company says there are early signs that demand is on the recovery path as the contract negotiation period for 2010 sales approaches.

well, i like to see 2.5...but use trailing stop will do the job of protecting your profit..

i thk 2.5 is a good px for now...try for this...but i thk it may correct prior to this.

Accepted your opinion with thanks though I don't knoe if you're sacarstic or really your views.  Honestly, SAR has proved to be a good counter for investment earlier.  Right now it might be either on the high or overbought.  Checked its financial ratio and wondered why this counter can be such a super performer.  SJ gives its financial as at 30June09 as:  PE:15.9, quite reasonable for the sector, NAS/NTA: 29 cents,  EPS: 11 cents all these ratios when the price was $1.71 cents. Today the price is 2.20 and therefore all the financials need to be recalculated.

So unless the figures were misguided, then I think this counter is overbought and highly priced.  Thus beware.

To make money like most of the oldies here, newbies should sell when I say uptrend and then buy when I say downtrend.  Don't forget this is how some wise cracks are making big money!

did u all (SAR vested, buy on every dip like i did) or did u follow those who bad mouth this burger say worth only 60c or those down trend talker..........

if u did, today u be real down, but coming soon, all those down guy out there will be back soon,,,,,,,,cause i see SAR going down soon,,,,

business as usual,,,they be saying the same story....this is doen trend...this one worth only so much and so on.......i predict their behaviour more accurate than i can predict the market....you see for yourself..

today will be day for Li Heng, Mermaid, Tiong woon.......but Li Heng i thk will cheong..have been a good boy so quiet for sometimes...

Hi cheemeng,

Looking at the 3 yeras chart data,it is the cup with the left half formed but the right half still not even half formed, thus not too sure is it going to be a cup.

When a full cup is formed and done a downtrend slope followed by an uptrend slope, when this uptrend slope breaks above the brim of the cup, it forms the handle.

If chart and TA are so accurate, i believe those use TA and chart will agree, then analyst will be "gods".........they uses the most chart and TA..read up on analyst recommendation,,,......pay a fee and learn from them and follow their recommendation and be rich.........this forum is free....so it is useless.............and it is also dangerous.....you end up buying on ppl call....pls dont bother to come to this forum anymore....this forum may cause u to lose money....like some said here...
