as far as i know, trading using etrade is quite simple. you need to put some fund inside, can transfer fund in or out of the account by electronic means. in USD. i am not awared of 'custody fee'. when you buy, the account get deducted immediately. when you sell the account get credited immediately. in 2007, if your balance of your portfolio is above 50K then the trading fee per trade is 9.99USD. u can trade down to 1 share. now i dunno if they adjusted this per trade fee. read details or call etrade reps.. there are many online US brokers for your choice. |

Yes, but the waiver is still not worth it, is it? I can buy/sell insignificant shares to waive the custody fees, but it will still cost me the commission charges. Eg. I can hold some US stocks and buy/sell 1-2 SG stocks just to waive the custody fees. But overall, I'd still have to pay the commission fees for the SG stocks... Are there any other ways ? Does anyone uses ETrade here? |

Agreed, 0.4% brokage for DJ, not inclusive of GST, HSI 0.043478. However, for Custody services, both DJ n HSI, 2S$ per mth. Max 150 per qtr( end Mar, June, Sep n Dec) if u r big timer. Bursa, likely be cheaper, no trade so far with Bursa, forbial after d Glob incidence. But may attempt when time arrives. With weiver if min 2 trades per mth or 6 trades per qtr(end Mar, June, Sept n Dec)
