You should receive a letter from your agent bank telling you the rights entitlement and the procedure to subscribe. If you have exceeded your stock limit, you will have to top up your CPF Investment account with cash before you can subscribe.

hi chewbacca, sorry..alligator is right that the mothershare is already adjusted (diluted) before the nil-paid rights start trading. You need to apply cdp online to view yr chartered R holdings before selling them. Just to be on the safe side ba... hope this helps. cheers, oinkoink

you should see Chartered R in you CDP account , but not with your broker. GO and apply CDP online account now so that you can view your statement via internet. https://www1.cdp.com.sg/web33/scdcint/pinregistration/imain.do
you must be very sure you have share in CDP account before SELL, or else you are subjected to buy-in and fined.

Ah, I think I understand now. Since I have 15 mothershares, I'm entitled to 40.5. I can either sell them @ 0.25 right now, or convert them for $70 per lot at a later date to mother shares. Also, since it's not a while number, I'll have to buy or sell 0.5 of them? But should the rights appear under my portfolio already? I mean, I'm using poems. Should I see 45000 Chartered R under my portfolio? Or is that invisible? |

If you were holding chartered before ex-rights, that means you are already entitled shareholder to chartered rights.. The mother share price already get adjusted to current market price.. So you as an entitled shareholder, you do not need to bother about buying nil-paid rights from the market. But you cannot throw away your Rights for subscibing to the 27 for 10 rights at rights exercising price of 7 cents... If you throw that away, you loss more.. What is the price of your nil-paid rights now?? the market said 2.5c now. it will change over this rights trading period.. I hope you understand that you have a few options: 1. See away your nil-paid rights.. Market determine the price..over only next few days 2. Exercise by paying 7 cents for your rights and convert to mother shares 3. Do nothing: then give those 'money' away to other people who is more than happy to apply for excess-rights..

I bought it @ 0.305, 15 lots of them. So, yeah, losing money on them. I intend to buy more to average down, just not sure if now's the time. But, anyway, about the nil-paid rights, I don't quite understand that part. Sorry, kind of new to this and haven't really had time to look it up. When you mention I can sell the rights away, do you mean that I own the rights already depending on how many mothershares before this? Since I have 15 lots, I have 40.5 rights, right? And then I have to pay $70 to convert each lot of rights into mother shares? Really sorry about asking such basic questions. I really should be doing my own reading, but it's kind of confusing and I think someone confirming/denying what I understand will ease my mind somewhat. |

hi chewbacca, that depends on yr av px of the motherstock. If u buy it high, u may want to consider buying the rights bcos once the nil-paid rights is consolidated into the mothershare, it will face dilution. but if you buy it at around last week closing price, you may want to sell away the nil-paid rights to earn some $... hope this helps. caveat applies.

So, even if I'm holding some chartered before the rights issue, I can opt not to buy anything, right? But is it a good idea to buy? Or doesn't matter?

your calculation is correct. however, the market decides. Rights share price open at 2c even mother share is 11-11.5c. for those who buy rights at 2c, if he pay 7c to convert to mother share, his cost is 9c plus come trade commission.

Hi all, for those who have vested, may I ask if the nil-paid rights will start trading on 23 Mar at 0.105 - 0.07 = 0.035 cents? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance for the advice. Cheers~!

Bwahaha.....Wat a load of crap!!Someone should ask him when is Chartered going to make profit n pay dividend? Now they have asked shareholders for more money so you've got to throw in the sweeteners. Bro, u never knoe with more money, it may catapult them to lumber 1.

In the Edge publication, CEO said that Chartered is now No. 2 in technology, overtaking UMC already. Prepare for strong rebound after rights...
