Biosensors has always generated interest when there is a sudden spike in the vol and price, and when there is no movement or the share price is retreating, there is always deafening silence. Having said that, the stock has fallen in line with the whole mkt - come to think of it, almost every stock in the mkt is on a downtrend, and nobody knows when it will end. From a fundamental point of view, (to some this view is not important), the company has been progressing, with distinct milestone like getting 2 CE Marks, better clinical results, improving cash burnt rate, on-going approvals for new mkts to sell their products in, eg, the latest is Brazil, India, and possibly France and China in the next few mths. However, it NEEDS to show that they can continue to gain mkt share, and the mkt can be quite fickle, as in the case of Medtronics, after launching in the US mkt, their share has gone down from the 20 % in Jun 08 to 12 % in Oct 08. (due to Xience and not so good clinical results). The potential of this company needs to be exploited by a significant joint venture in the US mkt, as well as aggressive mkting to gain more mkt share. (which I think the new CEO is doing). Investors need to be well informed of the risk/rewards in investing in this company - not a stock for the faint hearted. Not a call to buy/sell. |

DES Strut Coverage Findings Suggest Differences in Thrombosis Risk
Key Points:
Incomplete endothelialization a factor in late stent thrombosis
Among DES, strut coverage better for Xience and Endeavor
Biomarkers of endothelial recovery support strut findings
By Kim Dalton
In a rabbit model, differences in arterial healing following drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation suggest that the risk of late stent thrombosis may be somewhat lower with the new Xience and Endeavor stents compared to first-generation DES. Differences in the degree of strut neointimal coverage and expression of several biomarkers of incomplete endothelialization favor the newer DES designs, according to a study published in the
To assess the effect of various polymer-based DES on endothelialization, researchers led by
After stent retrieval at 14 or 28 days, the stented arteries were bisected, with half examined via scanning electron microscopy and half immunostained. Other stented arteries were harvested after the same periods for culturing. (Although 28 days in rabbits is often considered the equivalent of 1 year in humans, the investigators suggest that the shorter 14-day duration may reveal more about the course of vascular healing with DES.)
Coverage Gap
Differences in total surface area of uncovered struts for the various DES vs. bare-metal stents were most pronounced at 14 days. At that point, the uncovered strut area was smallest for Xience, while Cypher, Taxus, and Endeavor each showed at least a 5-fold greater uncovered area compared to bare-metal controls (table 1). At 28 days, the total uncovered area had decreased ~50% in all DES, although the difference persisted in Taxus.
Table 1. Total Area of Uncovered Struts (mm2)
Cypher Taxus Endeavor Xience V Bare Metal
14 Days
5.17 ± 0.36a 7.26 ± 2.04a 5.66 ± 0.70a 2.75 ± 2.37 0.85 ± 0.90
28 Days
3.08 ± 1.80 3.84 ± 1.46b 2.54 ± 2.61 1.33 ± 1.60 0.12 ± 0.12
Longitudinal coverage of DES was poorest in the middle regions, whereas the ends were generally well endothelialized—except for Cypher.
Biomarkers Signal Delayed Endothelialization
In addition, levels of biomarkers indicating the stage of endothelial recovery varied among the different DES along lines similar to those for strut coverage. Expression of platelet-endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1) over struts was generally poor in Cypher and Taxus at both 14 and 28 days, suggesting inhibition of endothelial cell proliferation and migration, endothelial cell injury, and/or increased cell turnover. Likewise, expression of thrombomodulin, which regulates platelets and coagulation, was weak or absent in DES, rendering the endothelium thrombogenic. On the other hand, expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was especially elevated in Cypher, Taxus, and Endeavor, an indication of incomplete endothelialization.
While acknowledging that the risk of stent thrombosis is associated with a variety of factors, including procedural, lesion, and patient characteristics, the researchers conclude:
Attention should focus on stent strut coverage rather than late loss alone because the persistent lack of coverage . . . may serve as a nidus for thrombosis.
Improved stent designs with thinner struts, more biocompatible polymers, or elimination of polymers with optimized drug elution profiles will likely have a profound impact on endothelial coverage."

hmm...yea cashiertan....i remember sometime months back when i did an FA on this counter (was posted way back on this thread), only to have it swept under the rash of bullish calls...and again during that last run up from 46c to 68.5c, when so many of the tech people, not just you and me, here kept telling folks to run....but a lot wanted to hold cos of the analysts' call for 1.02 or something... don't want to say more, since it'd be like rubbing salt into wounds. but yea, hope that people will be more careful. this has always been a played counter.... one more thing: to be careful if biosensors drops below 23c, because then, it's beyond charting... good luck to the vested, and i sincerely hope i'm wrong. no offence to anyone vested in the counter. cheers. |

many knows i dun write elegant and powderful english BUT yet i can make more than ppl who writes better than me or good in writing fanciful and colourful threads in forums. the reason is simple. trading is a ground where even you have no PSLE also can make it. it is not really complicated, it is a fair playing ground. winners, and not the whinners takes all. for me, i am stupider than most ppl i know but that does not makes me poorer! in fact it is the suppose-to-be-wiser ppl who lose money to me. why is it so? |

Thks. I hope that this lesson from biosensor will be a wake up lesson that will be perm Embeded into the traders/investors head and heart. I seriously never understand how can people be so "stupid" I remember some wise investor said these (mayeb Warren buff) cant remember the line but something along this point: "which one is the greater fear, fear of losing money or fear of making lesser?" "rule 1: never lose money. rule 2: never break rule 1" some may say it is easy to say than done, than i will say to them , trading IS that easy. it is YOU who make it complicated! good and simple trading system usually is not at fault. almost 99% of time i see is the users of the system that screwed the system. sometimes making less is better than to lose money. in fact making 1% interest is STILL better than losing money. maybe it is me but i just dun get it why ppl cant follow the 2 simple wise investing truth commonly known to everyone! PLease Note: I dun need to but many stupid ebooks which manimako/ipunter recommend. he recommend it because he need to make sales and also almost all he recommended are CRAP (to me) coz i think trading should be made simple and practical and not what that idiot is trying to tell u. dun trust that ebook salesman, u should trust the proven traders in this forum never a salesman! |

Some information from the recent video conference by the CEO/CFO on the Q209 results : 1) Excluding one-off exceptional items, the actual cash burned is about US$7.23m for the qtr vs approx US$8.5m for Q109. (Cash burn is calculated using gross rev, plus Nobori licensee fees minus gross expenses. (Forex gain/loss not included) 2) Net NTA approx 15 cents sing 3) Gross DES sales approx US$8.15m vs US7.2m in Q109 (approx 13 % increase Q-on-Q 4) Gross margin for DES approx 65 % 5) Approval granted to sell Bio-matrix in Brazil and India. 6) Mgt is awaiting approval to sell in France and will 'hit the ground running' as the mkt team is in place. 7) When asked by an analyst, about the joint venture for the US mkt, it appears that there are some deals under consideration (from the body language displayed by the CEO), and nothing certain was mentioned. (Probably, any deal for the US mkt will have major significance regarding M & A, and therefore it will not be taken lightly by the mgmt. (My own conjecture) 8) One analyst (from overseas) asked about the Japan mkt, and he seems to imply that the Nobori will be there in 2010 (dont know whether he refers to calendar 2010 or FY 2010), and that the mkt share may reach 30% (analyst's own conjecture) 9) Approval to mkt in China is still on-going, and it appears that the mgt is still talking to Weigao, regarding the JWMS deal. Overall, both CEO and CFO apprears very confident in the presentation. My own view is that the DES Sales is still quite slow, and they need to bring it up to speed. Maybe the next 2 qtrs may show some improvement as the Leaders trial was only released in Sept. Not a call to buy/sell. Please do your own homework. You will better appreciate the details after listening to the conference. | ||||

Some ppl will be saying what i am saying is easy for things already happened. That time when i warned ppl to trade with care, how many ppl actually listened? Why nobody actually think that maybe BBs actually send ppl to forums to post fake threads and info. Hence i always been saying TRUST no one or news except the Charts!

Some of the so-called 'fans' are actually the work of Bengster or his cronies. Look at the past postings and you will discover a pattern of deception. Make no mistake,he is still in this forum using a different moniker. I would have thot most forummers would be able to see through his charade. |
