Looking at the global economy, STI will decline gradually is a fact. But what is the bottom line? No one can tell now, quite sure. Hence, for us, just be vigilant and track the situation closely, if u trade. |

This should help STI achieve the unthinkable 800 albeit in slowmo. Libor for Dollars Climbs; Three-Month Rate Snaps 23-Day Decline
2008-11-13 12:29:04.590 GMT
By Anchalee Worrachate
Nov. 13 (Bloomberg) -- The cost of borrowing dollars for three months in The Association data. The last time the rate climbed was Oct. 10. The overnight rate also climbed 2 basis points, to 0.40 percent, or 60 basis points below the Federal Reserve's target rate.
Declines in money-market rates may be slowing amid signs the financial crisis will persist and is spreading to the global economy. U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said yesterday he plans to use the second half of the $700 billion financial-rescue program to help relieve pressures on consumer credit, scrapping an effort to buy devalued mortgage assets.
``There's still a lot of uncertainty, especially after the change in the The global hedge-fund industry lost $100 billion of assets in October, according to an estimate from Eurekahedge Pte, as firms including Sparx Group Co. and Man Group Plc were hammered by investor redemptions.
`Market Skittish'
``Whilst Hank Paulson's rethink on buying bad mortgages may be right thinking, it's the wrong time,'' said Felix Riley, head of binaries at the ChoiceOdds unit of MF Global in London.
``Paulson is making the market skittish.''

Anything is possible. When STI was at 3900, a lot of people said 2000 was impossible. When DOW was at 14000, people thought 7000 is not possible. Although fundamental had changed from 10 years ago where companies are more developed, but don't under estimate the power of mkt sentiment. In this mkt climate, logic does not apply. It's FEAR and GREED that drives the mkt last 6 mths. I would see another 6 more mths before any real rebound to happen. So I won't want to think 800 is not possible....just my view.

STI 800 occurred 10 years ago in 1998. Looking at the 10 year chart, the next support level is around 1500, followed by the 800 level. Getting to 800 is a 50% drop from the current level. While it seems unthinkable now... remember that around 15 months ago, the STI was trading near 3900.. more than twice the current level. |

STI 800. this shows a complete non-understanding of not only technicals, but also fundamentals. STI at 800 means all the current stocks on the STI halve their value, and the premium of the blues trade at half NAV or less. You really think value investors won't snap up counters way before? Remember at 1997-1998, what were the value of the companies then? Compare it with now. DJIA tanked 411 pts last night, but STI is down 28 pts. Follow the trend indeed. Ridiculous waste of time spreading fear. But then, that's what shortists with vested interests do. |

if sti can drop from 3900 to 1500, there are no reasons why it cant drop from 1755 to 800...a lot of ppl that hold shares are trying to deceive themselves that sti wont drop to 800. in stock mkt, anything can happen. dun just go against it. when the shares are cheap, it can get cheaper as it's like a bottomless pit now!

Yah below 1000, really hard to swollow loh. Spore had diversified its investments all over the world, since last decades, top people got foresight, at times of course got miss que lah. Geneally, Spore has anchor block at the up n coming economy giant, D China, with free trade. We will see some benefits begining of next Jan. If really, we starve, slaughter the white tiger which kill the foreigner today for meal loh. |

Why i say sti 800 is unlikely is because once STI drops deeper, ppl will buy in. u want wait till DBS $3 to buy? by the time is $6, which is already so unlikely, fat investors will come in already to push the price. I havent talk bout govt intervention.

In the Stock Market nothing is certain. One thing is certain - the market needs fuel to drive its engine and move forward. The more fuel, the longer it moves forward. Less fuel, shorter distant. No fuel, engine dead (ie trading within very low and narrow range for a long period) !!!!! It is all about liquidity which is being squeezed and will continue to be squeezed. If the Govt put Tax Payers' money in the Stock Market, they're asking for trouble - if the Stock Market performed well, they'll be 'KING' and when the Stock Market collasped, the whole Nation will ask them to step down and that'll be the last we'll see them again!!!!! Cheers! |
