I'm thinking of buying some.

erm. i think you guys need to properly understand the concept of 'banks'....

s'pore banks are deposit-focused. They have capital requirements and stringent rules. Eg, foreign banks operating here are required to ring-fence their money from their overseas branches.

investment banks--like MS, ML, Lehman, GS--derive most of their money from shareholders. What they also do is to provide 'soft' services, like financial advisory etc. But most of their income is from one source: proprietary trading. 60% of their income is from there. So they have a pool of shareholders, they take huge leverage, 200x, 400x, and they play the markets (yen carry trades sound familiar to anyone?). Essentially, they're big time gamblers.

Straightaway: is that a sound business model?

And then: are asian banks the same?

Are other counters here the same? You really think a company with solid NTA can go to zero the way these fellas did?

Judge for yourselves. This is FA.

When markets are irrational, all the more ya gotta keep cool. If you really know your work, you shouldn't be panicking.

I think 20% below the NAV it is good value at current market situation...that means Capitaland NAV is 3.62 ( from share invester) than the px consider bargain is..2.89!!!..yours $3 is close.

No long ago, i recommend gold and silver...did you all miss..

Still can buy...still cheap.next year will be gold and silver year..DYODD.

no worry to make call on gold and silver because it  alway have value..can never go to zero like Lehman, Bear Stern..and any stock on the SGX...

target px gold 1500 and silver 85...when??? before Apr 09...no gurantee.DYODD.

but definitely higher than today..90% sure.

someone memtion gurantee..that make me recall one GE agent who told me that GE will never bankrupt..it survive 2 WW..when i ask him when he want me to buy ins...look now at Lehman..158 yrs...go under...more to follow...if Wachovia tok of merger cannot go thro...and Washigton Mutual also blew up...there will be more blood...and there are lot more come next reporting..

Do you really have the eye to see your share px go down day to day???

GURANTEE is as good as you...you are your own gurantee...you do someting now to gurantee your survival from the stock market melt down by buying gold and silver.

Was told bank gurantee up to 20k..that means if you got 100k and bank go under you get the most is 20k...if i am not wrong..that is the gurantee..not all your money...am i right,pls correct if i am wrong..not interest in putting $ in bank the int is stink!!!just enough for bill ..

I think i bought at 1.7 sometime back but definitely it is already capitaland not dbsland...

I sold mine at 4,5 during the IR play,cause i tok game over, it did not got the contract..it did go to 8...i really bang .

But i put my money to ride on other counter and make $../

You can check it up..i am too lazy to check the pass.

I am looking to the future and the future i am more vest in gold and silver.

Currently,can say to be out of market, except for some blue only.

Look like i suggest you guy better run first, talk later..

Just imagine, big Boy fail,,,what u say about those small fish.

All the bank got no $,they are sitting on big losses...how to function...only buying time to file for bankruptcy.

Take your time, you can get it at 1.70.  I remember clearly I got mine in 1996 at around 1.78 and that time it was known as DBS Land.  I also received 1600 shares for Capitacom as a token. Sold away at 8.00 when price was at its peak in April 2007.

teeth53 tot: Local property prices can still drop, given those (demand) are not around to pick up just yet, alot will take part to risk buying into it while some will take profit d moment when price move up which is enuff to make them richer by a few thousand $$$. The trick is when demand is low...buy, then sell for whatever price may have move up when demand is high. Profit this day may not be great. Pls note Nov07 slide & now.....
