Lets dream for a GOLD on Sunday! Opponent is just CHINA...hehehe!!! If my son ask me to allow him to dream for olympics 20 years later, I will tell him: don't be silly, go study hard to be lawyer or doctor. Singapore got a lot of gold medal already since 2008. Those days the GOLD medal worth $500,000, now the government only offers $1,000 (due to over supply). If add in inflation, it's only worth $200 in 2008. Why bother...hehehe!!! |

haha, anytime s'pore wins something, this will inevitably come up. but let's put it this way: we're all immigrants here. just a matter of which generation. and secondly, those singaporeans who've been here for generations: if your kid told you, "daddy/mummy, i want to be in the olympics." What will you tell him? "GO AND STUDY, DON'T DREAM NONSENSE!" And this, is why we need to import foreign talent. They have the hunger, drive and determination we lack. So the shame isn't on the women paddlers: if anyone watched them play, they deserve their finals placing all the way. The shame is on a country that doesn't dare to dream big, that curtails its children from dreaming differently, but will instead import people who dare to dream. And snipe at those who achieve a dream. Meanwhile, can we put aside that tedious cynicism and celebrate it for what it is worth: a medal hardfought and won.  Go, Table Tennis Team!!!

What imported? These women paddlers are Singaporean. To term "imported", then we should call ourselves imported too because all our ancestors were either from India, China or Malaysia. Do we call ourselves imported all these years?....WELL DONE SINGAPORE to clinch at least a medla after 48 years of wait! I watch on the internet the live coverage of the play (just seeing points jumping not video), and it was nail biting, thinking that history might repeat 4 years ago with the Korean, they are not easy meat! |

For some, our parent, grand parent and fore father all came from "TangSan" Watching Simgapore Channel 5 live make my heart goes two three notch faster.......CONGRATULATIONS.
