SPH is a good counter for the long run. Because media is mainly advertisement driven, and that advertising occurs only when companies have the budget for marketing, it is a good proxy for the economy. Once the financial crisis blows over, I believe the share price will rebound sharply. Similarly for SGX. |

Okay, just for the records as according to the 5y charts.... SPH was trading at $3.86-$4.16 price range somewhere between Jun-Sep 06, actually that was the time when I first invested into it. At $3.99 currently, it is trading close to 2 yrs low. Further more, it is also currently trading at all time low since its Jun 04 share split of 5-1....ie. actually 4 yrs low. Look at it with a hawk eye's view now to accumulate more anytime soon....provided its FA still intact. Cheers! |

Hi hi... I believe SPH is a good FA stock. It is the largest media company in Singapore. Almost a monopoly! It is just that currently most counter's TA looks very bad. That's not surprising, given the current market conditions.

jiejie - has to look all the way back to 2001 and 2003. SPH share price in those two years fluctuate between $3.15 and $4. One year from the effect of Sept 11, the other one because of SARS. The current weakness is, imo, market disappointed with quarterly result just announced.

I think the stock split was sometime in June 2004 and the stock price around $20.00 was before the 1-into-5 split. | ||||

yah, its a solid component stock yrs back. then the board suggested to split the share so that people on the street can affort to hold some. AK think the split ratio is around there. fr pre-tax earning of 820.9m ended 31 Mar 04 till 2,547.2m ended 31 Mar 08. power ah. |

I remember there was 1-into-5 stock split and 15 per cent capital reduction exercise sometime in year 2004. At that time the stock price I think was around $20.00. (correct me if I am wrong, thanks) | ||||

Wow... SPH looks like it is approaching its 52 week low. TA signals are looking quite bearish too. I don't remember a time when the price was below $4 |
