Such delisting is usually beneficial to the small investors whose shares are "shorted" by shortists. Those who recently bought at below 50 cents are actually reaping a good gain as they will be offered 55 cents per share. Though there were less than 10 per cent in small investors' hands, the cash back would still burn the hands of some corporate shortists; same case with Asia Dekor which also delisted to unlock shareholders value. Whether making or losing, it is a good idea that less traded counters seek this route by scouting for buyers who are willing to take their companies private. This will actually boost our economy because more money will be floating in the market. |

I went to Courts flagship store in Tampines recently as I need to get a new washing machine. After parking at the carpark, I entered the showroom.... sound good...nooooo. The ground floor showroom is isolated and there is no escalator or lift to the rest of the floors.....simply bad fengshui and poor design. The sale pple is not so courtesy and I was told to go to the second floors. OK. one big round about to the true front lobby and the escalator only go striagth to the third level....there is no access to second floor (I later discovered that there is a lift to the second level). After going to the second level, there is no washing machine but wooden furniture items and then I make a major discovery, the third level is actually the second level and the second level is the first middle floor (1M)....very confused what I have written. I finally saw some washing machines....so I ask, point to the newpaper adv and the sale man said "Ohh you want that China Brand washing machine". So I reply "Is there a problem with China made product ?" Saleman "No good, break down easily, I recommend you the Samsung WF1061.....made in Korea" Conclusion : a) Bad taste sale personnel, which will offence a many customer. Simply not train to push a product. He should have said, "While the Straaten has all the features you need and a good product we sell...But the Samsung WB1061 has varible RPM control, Display Indicator and delay wash to take out the suborn strain.......all for an extra $140 dollar....I will even deliver free....how?? Good??" .....They can't even say that.... Un-train Ah Beng just cannot sell. b) By saying, the product break down easily...it shows that they have no regard for customer wellness. I believe Courts do their homework and check if the washing machine is good before taking in the product. But the lousy sale pple just cannot present in a proper manner Go to Courts Tampines and see and hear for yourself (Try asking for the cheapest items of the range)....How are they going to make money with bad sale pple.....same goes to GainCity. My previous front load $288 WF5604 5kg lasted 5 year with 10kg load everytime I wash.....same comment five year ago from Gaincity When will ever Singapore improve to service customer better ? As a customer, I need to feel good that a good decision or a good deal is made when I buy a product.....this is the WOW effect in customer spending. Yesterday, I felt good again because Courts raise the price of the same washing machine by $50....in their GSS sale adv........ |

Probable special div is about $0.50 per share (nett) this yr (but not $2 below -typo error, my sincere apology). No. of shares issued @ 31/12/06 = 161m shares. Retained earning balance 31/12/06 = $81m Therefore, s.44 special div = approx. $0.50 per share (nett after deducting corporate tax), subject to s.44 available bal. |

Bang on s.44 tax credit for this counter! Results out this month-end but reporting losses in FYE 31.3.07. Total shareholders' fund @ 31 Dec 06 is $144.6m of which more than half is retained earnings. Therefore it is posibility for a big special dividend payout soon, that could be as high as $2 div per share (depending on its s.44 balance). Share capital = $49.5m Revaluation reserve = $13.2m Retained earnings a/c = $81.9m |

NTA of Courts (S) @ 31 Dec 06 = $0.89 (after write-off of Thai loss ops). Note Co owns a piece of valuable land @ Upper Bt Timah Road. IF takeover price is at NTA, then upside about 31%. Hopefully can get NTA plus. Rgds, |

Courts PLC is in advance stage of negotiating disposal of Courts (S). See administrator report Para 5 (Overall timetable) mentioned that Asia will be disposed in early 2007. May get good chance of M&A soon. Is $0.68 a good buy now? Any comments pls. http://www.courts.co.uk/Courts%20Plc%20291106%20progress%20report.pdf |
