Firstlink is not placed under the watch list since it did not meet the "criteria" of below market capitalization of $40 million in a 120 trading day averages though losing consecutively 3 years. But this counters' financial accounts are rather peculiar in the sense that its actual investments in Green Salt Lake not being stated at market value but at costs owing to the dispute of administrative & financial control over the subsidiary arising from an agreement with original shareholders of Green Salt Lake. So far there has been no announcement of any settlement or the court proceedings taken by Firstlink. I don't know if shareholders have pressed for information or not, but they actually should. Don't buy this counter unless you are sure that they will win control of the subsidiary. Don't like the "stupidity" behind the matter. |

In my opinion, SGX Authority should only investigate/control any wqrong doing and on going corporate business performance of listed company but not market capitalization as long as no tendacy of manipulation and cornering occured during day to day trading, just let the market movement fix by conventional balancing of buying demand and selling supply. Controlling and place some restraint about market capitalization implying unfair towards all the original/initially relative small size IPO listed companies. ( Ironically, look up to big but look down to small)!!! |

elf, yap the authy recently introduced a watch-list of lousy companies. Though I agree it is a good idea, it is a little too late because many of these incurable companies have already burnt unwary investors' hands. The SES calls it watch-list, but I rather term them as blacklist. If they don't mark up in the next 24 months, they will definitely be delisted, thereby burning your hard earned money. But how are they going to pull up their socks (turn profitable) ? It can happen only by a miracle or by sheer intelligence inputed into the CEOs of these companies. For the benefit of those who want to know which companies are now under the monitoring by SES, here they are: ASA Grp CHUANSH Fasttech GenMag Ionics Joinn Stratech Tri-M Unified They arecompanies who churned up losses every year for the last 3 years (counted from the latest financial year announced) and have less the $40 million capitalization on a 120 days average. In the SGX on a whole there are also other companies making losses for 3 consecutive years counting from the last announced financial year results but they have higher market capitzlization, i.e. above $40million. (This criteria is actually quite a rubbish). I have not mentioned them because I think there might still be a tinge of hope for them. Cheers |

Any stock can go higher than its historical high and any stock can go lower than its historical low. Nothing is static. Take the case of learning from Victororf regarding YZJ. Correct me if I am wrong, Bro Victororf. In his post he said that if YZJ support fails at $1.20, the next support would be at $1.16. If that level fails to hold. it would even go down to $1.00.With margin call, it ended today at 94c. Opportunities abound but please trade with caution. Not vested. |

it's a good idea, but the trouble is that, as onesharer pointed out, what seems like good to one may be bad to another. And the trouble is that small time players like to play precisely the rumored counters (which is likely why a lot get burnt). Perhaps I'll just list down the extremely volatile counters that are good for beginners to avoid? (no judgment on their FA, or techs, or whatever. Just that these are extremely volatile and difficult to predict: see their intraday ranges, the volume of the movement, and the swiftness of the ups and downs. or for some counters, the persistent downs from previous highs.) i.e., for experienced/gungho traders only. -gems tv -jade -banjoo -rowsley -tat hong -ferrochina -the CPOs: Firstres, Indoagri, Wilmar, GoldenAgri -yzj -yanlord -cosco -sgx -singtel -delongH -stx po -cosco if anyone has any further suggestions ya want me to check, just let me know. been busy this week tho; so no guarantees i can get back in time to reply asap. note: above are all just my opinions. and again: NO judgment on the counters; just on their volatility. |

Hi ekekeg: I would like to know, too. But what may seem like a poor counter to one, may not be a poor counter to another (e.g. depending on the entry price). |

It would be good to have a forum to warn smalltime investors on the dangers of buying shares in companies that we believe are "WUKEYAOJIU" ("MEIYAOJIU") types. In Hanyu Pinyin they translate to "no medicine can cure" types of listed companies. Such companies have no prospects and are eternally down and finishing themselves. Lest they finish us, we should bring notice to our friends. This can help investors not to go bust investing in them. Any taker? Please name one by one and why you are saying so. I believe this is a good idea, and not a waste of time. |
