dearer0168, right issues will tight up my money for a month plus the risk of HK currency exchange. I will not consider to get in. I will prefer to look at another counter.

USD 0.0127 Div (as stub distribution) for this Sep09, n follow by anyother divi this coming Oct09.

Still a much better counter compare to other Shipping Trust.

N using of the funds raised from placement for the acquisitions of vessels with leases or of companies holding such vessels (which yet to be identify), that will mean an increase in DPU fr future.

To be frank, I'm still confident with FSL management compare to other Shipping trust.

First Ship Lease Trust to raise funds from placement

By VINCENT WEE

JUST days after winning some reprieve from its bankers, First Ship Lease Trust (FSLT) is now seeking to raise more funds with a 100 million unit placement exercise.

The trust plans to use funds raised for the acquisitions of vessels with leases or of companies holding such vessels.

The placement, to be arranged by CLSA Singapore, will not be underwritten. The issue price per new unit and number of new units to be issued will be determined by CLSA in consultation with the trustee-manager, FSL Trust Management (FSLTM), following a book-building process.

FSLTM said that the issue price will be between 52.5 cents and 57.5 cents unless otherwise agreed between CLSA and FSLTM but provided that it will not be at a discount of more than 20 per cent to the traded volume-weighted average price of 59 cents on the day before the agreement was signed.

The trustee-manager said that assuming that all the 100 million new units are issued at an assumed price of 59 cents each, FLST estimates that it will receive net proceeds of about $57.3 million.

The trust plans to use funds raised for the acquisitions of vessels with leases or of companies holding such vessels, although it has not identified any specific assets to be acquired as yet.

The new units are equivalent to about 19.28 per cent of the existing issued units and about 16.16 per cent of the enlarged issued units, assuming that all the 100 million new units are issued.

To ensure fairness to existing unit holders, FSLT will give a stub distribution, estimated at 1.27 cents, for the period July 1 to the day immediately preceding the date on which the new units will be issued instead of to Sept 30 as originally scheduled. The new units are expected to be issued on Sept 17, said FSLTM, adding that the next distribution following the stub distribution is expected to be for the period from the issue of the new units to Sept 30.

IMF chief sees global recovery, urges exit strategies
AFP - Saturday, September 5

BERLIN (AFP) - - The global economy "appears to be emerging" from a steep slump and countries should plan to wind down stimulus efforts, International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn said Friday.

"The global economy appears to be emerging at last from the worst economic downturn in our lifetimes," Strauss-Kahn said in a speech in Berlin.

The risks of the fragile recovery stalling appeared to be diminishing, as several advanced economies -- including France and Germany -- had already returned to growth and emerging economies were "recovering even more strongly," he said in prepared remarks.

But he warned that problems in the financial sector could persist or even intensify, particularly if efforts to restore banks to health are not completed.

In light of the fragility of the recovery, Strauss-Kahn cautioned there was "a real danger" countries may end their extraordinary monetary and fiscal crisis measures prematurely.

"Having said this, the time is right for policymakers to formulate their exit strategies," he added.

The former French finance minister said that international coordination of exit strategies would perhaps be even "more important" than the well-coordinated crisis response.

"Greater clarity in communicating policy intentions to the public is also essential to shore up confidence," he said.

Strauss-Kahn was due to travel to London later Friday for a two-day meeting of finance chiefs from the Group of 20 developed and developing countries in advance of a September 24-25 summit in the northeastern US city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The global recovery, Strauss-Kahn said, would likely be "relatively sluggish," with unemployment continuing to rise through next year.

"A jobless recovery remains a risk. Having so many people out of work has significant economic costs, ranging from lower private demand to a decline in potential growth if structural unemployment rises," he said.

"The social consequences are potentially even more worrisome."

Regulatory reform momentum was lackluster, he noted, urging countries to avoid "complacency" as financial markes improve.

"The reform effort is not proceeding as quickly as is necessary to address the problems raised by the crisis," he said.

The IMF managing director addressed concerns about the international monetary system and

t the dollar's role as the world's reserve currency in the wake of the financial crisis.

Critics have noted the role of the dollar may have been "undermined" by US economic and financial troubles, he acknowledged.

"I note, however, that the US dollar actually strengthened during the crisis. In my view, this reflects the dollar's status as an unrivaled safe haven asset," said Strauss-Kahn.

Recent proposals have called for the creation of a new world reserve currency, possibly based on the IMF's composite currency, the SDR, or special drawing rights.

"Another possibility, and perhaps the least unlikely alternative, is for a multi-reserve currency system to emerge, with currencies like the euro, the yen and even the renminbi (Chinese yuan) serving as co-equal anchors," Strauss-Kahn said.

The IMF chief said the 186-nation institution could do more to support the international monetary system, suggesting its financial resources base "could be increased further."

Aiyo, when u guys/ gays inject your money into this baby, i believe u guys already calculated how long it takes to have the amt of money u vested in return.

And than fr when onwards, the DPU money will become extra income to u.

To me Shipping trust & reits are consider sort of saving stock. But if u invest based on short term trading, just to earn that few ten dollars/ hundreds/ thousand/etc in short term, than that different case.

Hahahaha, maybe let wait for FSL to disclose more first. No point scaring yrself at this time. Cheers.

Nowadays management are in vogue asking for more money without justification and some even when the company does not need the money.

It is really very, very LOOSE with Other People's Money [OPM].

This is OPM-Flu.

Severe Acute OPM-Flu Syndrome [SAOS]

BEWARE & BECARE of management who canNOT generate Operational CASH.

The RIGHT SOLUTION is to CHANGE MANAGEMENT [like OBAMA said] and NOT to give them MORE MONEY.

BEWARE & BECARE #### SAOS ....

I will propose the idea of setting a TP for yr investment instead. Need not invest so many times................

Unless the share value drop, than u load somemore to average. If not, there is no necessities to do it monthly/ weekly/......

N preferable not to put all eggs in one basket.

Cheers, n trade with care.

Let see how FSL speak up on the placement things. Hope they give us some positive directive answer that benefit us the investor.

elysian      ( Date: 04-Sep-2009 11:57) Posted:

i agree that FSL management is wiser than Rickmer's - without a doubt.

Atleast FSL is giving a Stub distribtuion of 1.27 cts as goodwill to existing shareholders.
Even the stub is DOUBLE that of the miserly 0.6cts Rickmers distributed for the entire quarter.

Anyway, this isn't the time to acquire more vessels - i am not sure what they'll do with the money.

I suspect that there's more than meets the eye ...

But the money got fr the placement share was used possibilily fr acquiring of more vessel, maybe to clear some debts, etc.

Basically what their doing, if acquire more vessel........... that would be resolve the problem of dillution. As the DPU will increase as well with more vessel acquiring.

It all depends. But definately FSL is much better in term of management compare to our dear Rickmer.

elysian      ( Date: 04-Sep-2009 11:44) Posted:

They are issuing 100million new units - almost 20% of their current holdings Expect a price drop of up to 20% from current price - future DPUs will also see a drop, after the current guidance. First it was Rickmers who played investors out and now....
