How loyal are S’poreans?

Loyalty and pride remained stable, but two in three

said national unity would be affected by foreign immigrants

Leong Wee Keat

SINGAPORE

This result is an improvement from the 85 and 84 per cent of Singaporeans who said so in 1999 and 2005, respectively.

An Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) survey also found two in three respondents felt the world would be a better place if people from other countries were more like them.

IPS interviewed 2,016 citizens last year, a representative sample, to probe their feelings.— About nine in 10 Singaporeans (93 per cent) polled think the Republic is a better country than most other countries, according to a new report card on national pride.

Currently, DBS has no direction.

Price going to move between $14.30 and $14.80.

Hold First.

If price falls below $14.30, you better sell.

This is just my personal opinion, you invest at your own risk.

NECROPHILIA is only about making love ?

Today TGIF liao. Seems like ds baby hendak kaki liao.

Dull DJ, others follow. Nonetheless, hv fun on below, over weekends:

LEARN A WORD A DAY: NECROPHILIA

A man was brought before the judge and charged with NECROPHILIA (making love to a dead person).

The judge told him, "In 20 years on the bench, I've never heard such a disgusting, immoral thing. Just give me one good reason why I shouldn't lock you up and throw away the jail keys in the toilet?"

The man replied, "I'll give you THREE good reasons:
1. It's none of your damn business;
2. She was my wife; and.....
3. I didn't KNOW she was dead, she ALWAYS acted that way!"

SO LADIES TRY TO MOVE A LITTLE DURING THE GAME…..

GUYS, IF THERE IS NOT MUCH MOVEMENT, STOP IMMEDIATELY AND CHECK IF SHE IS ALIVE.

“I think the young have taken a different approach. They know it adds to their CV for the next promotion, or in a different company, to have experience abroad,” he said. Mr Lee himself gained new ideas from spending time in Britain as a young man in his 20s, and later in the United States.

For instance, he had noticed in Boston that planes took off and landed over water, and hence created “no footprint of sound of the aircraft over the city”. So he opted to reclaim land in Changi for a new airport, where planes would take off over water, instead of building a second runway at Paya Lebar. Mr Lee also compared Singapore to Japan, which he said is ahead in productivity levels due to the latter’s greater employee- company cooperation and bottom-up rise through the ranks.

Key conundrum

'The crux of the problem is what to do with highly paid older workers and how to create opportunities for younger workers.'

MS PAULINE MARGARET CHUNG: 'I cannot agree more with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew's remarks yesterday ('Never retire') that there should not be an official retirement age. What is WRONG is the assumption that once we get older, we get slower and less productive and, therefore, should be paid less. The crux of the problem is really what to do with highly paid older workers and how to create opportunities for younger workers. It was much easier when there was an official retirement age, but with longer lifespans and the growing irrelevance of fixing an official retirement age (except for the purpose of cashing out pensions), many organisations may be stumped.

Why don't organisations treat all their employees as contract workers?

It sure beats generalising about the productivity of workers and paying them less when they reach a certain age.'

If one's salary is high, who in the right mind would not want to work forever?

If everyone's salary is very high, I think only idiots will stop working.

Then there will be a long, perhaps endless queue, of very aged persons who want  to start working...

hehehe... Smiley
