Fresh warnings of UK

Figures showed the number of students entering Britain from countries outside the European Union increased by more than 75,000 in 12 months, despite unprecedented demand for college and university places at home.

The influx was exacerbated by a further 31,000 dependants accompanying foreign students.

It followed the introduction of Labour’s points-based immigration system which was supposed to make it harder for unskilled immigrants to come to Britain.

But the system made it no harder for immigrants to enter the country on student visas, according to campaign groups.

The British government said on Sunday that the student visa system had been open to “significant abuse”. Immigration Minister Damian Green said there would be a thorough review of the rules and new measures to “tighten the system further”.

Many students enter Britain to take legitimate degrees but tens of thousands of other foreigners have been admitted to 600 “lower tier” colleges, at which it is easier to gain a place but which are still accredited to hand out degrees.

Last year, it emerged that some of these colleges offered qualifications in subjects such as circus skills, acupuncture and ancient medicine. Many of their students are given the RiGHT to wOrk in Britain after graduating.

About 4,000 illegal immigrants are also thought to have used bogus colleges to slip into the country.

Mr Andrew Green, chairman of the group Migrationwatch, said: “There is growing evidence the points-based system has provided a back door for bogus students.”— The number of foreigners entering the United Kingdom on student visas rose by a third to more than 300,000 last year, prompting renewed warnings of a loophole in immigration law.

On Tuesday, Genting had a massive selling down due to rumors on share placement which Genting decline to comment and closed at $1.25 with high volume of 0.29 billion shares traded.

An engulfing bearish line occurred (where a black candle’s real body completely contains the previous white candle’s real body).  The engulfing bearish pattern is bearish during an uptrend which signifies that the momentum may be shifting from the bulls to the bears.

Both RSI & MACD are turning bearish as MACD lines began to converse together.

Important Resistance of Genting: $1.30

Immediate Support of Genting: $1.24

Currently the prices are well above 20/50/100/200 days MA and RSI near to overbought region.

The rumors of share placement certainly drive fears into investors which caused the huge selling pressure.

As of now, we would not encourage any investors to be a hero and tried catching a falling knife. In fact, prices might fall further if the news is confirmed to be true.

Therefore do monitor the situation of Genting (News, trading volume) before making any moves.

Bearish engulfing pattern at resistance level.

If this counter enters into range trading between 0.85 & 1.30, then no need to work liao.

DESIGN STUDIO: Higher price of 65 cents now offered by Depa Print E-mail

Design Studio had a project in Burj Dubai.

 THE NEAR-INEVITABLE has happened.

After seeing practically no take-up of its buyout offer at 55 cents, Depa Interiors last night raised its offer price for all the shares of Design Studio Furniture Manufacturer it does not own.

The new price is 65 cents a share, a 18.18% jump from 55 cents.

The revised offer came after it and its concert parties made an off-market acquisition yesterday (Aug 2) of 64,001,000 shares at 65 cents a share.

That represents 25.08% of the company.

It is not known yet who the seller or sellers of the shares were.

As a result of the transaction, Depa now controls 130,737,000 shares or 51.22% of Design Studio.

That also leads to the nature of the offer being changed from a voluntary offer to a mandatory offer.

Interestingly, Depa said it reserves the right to further revise the revised offer price at any time in accordance with the Singapore Code on Takeovers and Mergers, and/or in the situation where there are competing offers.

The latter scenario cannot be ruled out given that there has been a substantial volume of trades done above 55 cents after Depa made its original offer in late June.
